Sixty-two million years ago, a craft from deepest space invaded the atmosphere on a collision course with Earth. The twelve creatures aboard, what humans would come to call vampires, rested in suspended animation, ready to be woken before landing by the onboard artificial intelligence system. However, the system had malfunctioned, meaning even when the craft crashed heavily into the African jungle, near what is known today as Egypt, the vampires remained in stasis.
