It was a challenging yet joyous day. Hard because it was difficult spearing whales that didn't want to die. They'd thrash about, spraying the fishermen with salty water that, after a while, scars the skin. And the whales made the most terrible, almost forlorn sounds. Yet, despite the hardships, it was a joyous time for the fisherman because each knew that later that day, the entire village would feast, and all would be merry, with singing, music, and dancing. All fueled by copious amounts of fermented mead. The whales, realizing their fate as they became trapped in the fjord, panicked as their escape was cut off by several Norse fishing boats.
