Earl Hawkins presses the vinyl decal against the sliding glass door, using outward motions with the sides of his hands to remove air bubbles. He takes a few steps backwards to make sure the suncatcher is perfectly positioned. The kaleidoscope design breathes dynamic color and motley shapes throughout his guest bedroom.
On the other side of the glass, Violet Hawkins is positioning a row of windmill toys in the earth outlining the patio. Several feet beyond her, Pari Malik rakes a bountiful ring of mulch around a baby tree. Earl brings out a pitcher of lemonade and two glasses and sets them on a garden table for the women.
