On the 33rd floor of the tower, Diego Vargas answers his door with a napkin in one hand and a calico kitten in the other. He welcomes Pari to his penthouse condominium and she asks to hold the four-legged baby.
"So you are the eminent little princess and angel?" Pari says, tickling the ears of the kitten crouched in the palm of her hand. "Hermana, like the rest of us, you just want to know your place, be safe, and feel like you belong, isn't that right?"
Hermana responds with direct eye contact and pleading meows. Her tail is upright, confident, though her back legs faintly tremble.
"Hermana has no doubt that you understood her every word," Diego says. "If only basic communication and explanations were as simple as the inflections in our voices, right?"
