WHILE THEY DRIVE TO the southern tip of the Las Vegas valley, Pari shares with Diego the discussion she just had with Fionn and Malana. They park near a cluster of mountains with barbed peaks, and begin hiking in the Sloan Canyon of McCullough Wilderness.
"Roman specifically mentioned wanting to come here," Pari says. "He said it was less famous than the other parks surrounding Vegas, but apparently has more petroglyphs."
"I read the carvings are difficult to spot, but once we climb up a dry waterfall to be sure and keep our eyes peeled," Diego says.
"How did Alejandra capture the macaw?" Pari asks. "I was watching her from the caboose until the train twisted north just as she reached the bridge parapet."
