Thank you for reading "Lurking On The Precipice," the follow-up to "Lurking on the Tightrope: Mystery at Diamond Head," which debuted the character of Pari Malik as a keen, amateur sleuth solving a murder on the island of Oahu.
This book was inspired by the enigma of ancient petroglyphs. Discovering and studying the carvings has been rewarding in unexpected ways. I try to imagine the individual artist who created each one and contemplate her or his specific intentions. What was the person's age? Was she or he fearful, triumphant, spiritual, or distraught? Why was this specific location chosen?
Focusing on the individual, rather than just the concept of "ancient people" as a whole, more possibilities emerge for their distinct purposes.
