She heaved a sigh of relief after the struggles of the previous night; She was happy at least that it was morning and she will be free for a while from the torments of her life, she even wished that night will never come but then she knew it was impossible. Series of thoughts on how to solve her nightmare problems arose bit by bit in her little mind and this made her confused as she did not move but remained at a spot staring at no where in particular. She was so deep In thought that she didn't notice when her father walked into the sitting room with a Lady.
"Kpeju Darling" her father called for the third time and she jerked waking up from the deep thoughts that she was having, she almost screamed " Good afternoon Daddy, you scared me" She aid to her father and greeted the lady also " I called you severally but you didn't respond, you were so lost baby girl, are you sure you are alright?" Dr. Wilfred asked his daughter. " Am fine Dad" She lied.
Dr. Wilfred introduced the woman as "Miss Fatimat", "she is the new cook and house keeper" He said, He further instructed Kpeju to be free to talk to Fatimat and ask her for everything she wanted. For some reasons known to her, Kpeju was happy she had someone to talk to in her whole life; Each and everyday, she grew fond of Fatimat and they got used to each other like mother and daughter but Kpeju still find it difficult to voice out her problems and nightmares to this woman, and sometimes when she felt like talking to Fatimat about it, it seems a strong force still her from saying a word and before she knows it, she forgets what she wanted to say to Fatimat. "Why can't I confide in her? She could be of help to me or even a solution to my problems" these thoughts and many more were running in the little mind of Kpeju.
