“I’m listening,” Roman said evenly, his eyes fixed on his father-in-law. Every cell in his gut told him this had something to do with money. But Roman wanted to believe Emmanuel Quin wasn’t so desperate to come to see him barely two days after the wedding. But, as it turned out, that was precisely the case. Emmanuel cleared his throat before speaking. “I find myself in need of some assistance. A major mining machinery has broken down and my accountants tell me it will take several days to put together the money needed to purchase a new one. You see… Almost all my money is in assets and bonds.” Emmanuel stopped and let out a brief, dry chuckle. “An old-timer like me believes more in investment than keeping money in the bank. Unfortunately, my mode of operation has come back to bite me.”
