Jesse stood at the entrance of his maze with an irrational sense of calmness.
“I have nothing to fear that’s why?”
“hey, I’m just narrating whatever you have done in you past is waiting for you inside of that maze.”
“yeah I get that. But I’m not afraid. I don’t regret anything.”
“that must be nice cause oftentimes what haunts us the most are our regrets in life. What we feel we should have done as opposed to what we did.”
“I’m not like those people I wont crack. I’m strong”
“being strong isn’t about being emotionless. It’s about being brave enough to face your emotions. And since you’ve been wasting all this time speaking to me I think it’s clear that you cannot handle or face those emotions.”
“i-i. Forget you”
Jesse enters the maze briskly with his hands in his pockets looking around. Minutes pass and nothing has happened. It’s just the endless looking maze.
“hey Narrator! I thought they said there will be challenges. This is boring I’m just walking around aimlessly.”
“consider yourself lucky if you have not encountered anything yet.”
“look I don’t have time for this bullshit. I just want to finish this damn book and move on-
“-that’s a pity I was hoping we could talk for a moment.”
Jesse turns around and sees Alexia. He doesn’t seem to recognise her but her navy sundress is hugging all the right places on her body, so he is intrigued enough to stop for a chat.
“well beautiful I don’t think we’ve met my name is Jesse” he grins at her, his dimples showing.
Cue me, the Narrator rolling my eyes.
In this light he almost looks normal Alexia thought. How numerous girls must have fallen for one of those inviting smiles, but she knew better.
“oh Jesse I know who you are” she says while touching his shoulder suggestively and circling him, looking him up and down.
“well then would you like to introduce yourself?” he says taking her hand and kissing it
She does her rehearsed blushing, takes a step away from him and looking at him over her shoulder she smiles menacingly.
“I’m someone you should know. Someone you should fear. Someone you should never have crossed.
Jesse laughs but all traces of Alexia’s earlier playfulness are gone. She looks determined for what he isn’t sure.
“look whatever your name is. I don’t know what it is you want but I don’t have time for this I need to go bye”
She stops him from passing her by grabbing his wrist and pulling him against her body as she whispers in his ear.
“uh, uh, uh. Poor Jesse. I have waited too long to confront you so you’re going to sit down and let me.”
“first of all, I’m not letting u do anything and secondly there isn’t even a chair here. So out of my way before I make you move”
“I’m sorry Jesse you seem to be confused about who’s in charge here. Sit down.”
Out of thin air a wooden chair with arm and leg straps appear and suddenly Alexia has a gun in her hand. Jesse reluctantly sits and the straps tie automatically. He looks at Alexicia with so much resentment that if looks could kill he’d be charged with a triple homicide right now.
“good boy” Alexia smiles.
“who are you?”
“Alexia, Alexia Rachel Arendse”
“I should have seen the family resemblance. Tell me how is that little girl of your brother’s?” Jesse asks.
To this Alexia flies into a murderous rage seeing only red. She fires eight shots. And kills Jesse on the first shot. As his body lays limp in the chair smeared by his blood she finally feels satisfied.
“She’s a lot better now.”
