Chapter seven: Alexia's maze

757 Words
Alexia knew what she’d find in the maze but she was ready to face it or so she thought. “I’m not scared. This has been a long time coming and the time to face this is now” “it’s alright if you’re scared Alexia. We all get scared and we all have been hurt. But think carefully if you want to act out on those emotions” “Narrator i don’t know what you’re talking about.” “okay proceed then” She enters her maze and this time voices follow her. Its the voice of her brother’s whispering all the things he missed out on in life and how she should avenge him. “you have to do this lexie. Not just for me but for my little girl” Then comes her mother’s voice. “there’s nothing you could have done child God has a greater plan in mind” Then her niece’s. “Aunty Lexy where’s daddy?” And finally her brother’s murderer’s voice. “too bad i had to get rid of him, he was one of my favourites.” The taunting of these voices don’t drive her insane or make her angry like the mazes did the others. Instead she sighed and took a seat on a tree that materialised in front of her. “you know Narrator sometimes i can truly relate to how you’re feeling.” “how so?” “i feel trapped. Binded by promises and anger. To be honest with you im really tired of holding on to this pain ive carried with me for all these years.” “then let go. Let go and don’t look back.” “that’s so easy to say. But all I’ve felt for so long was pain and anger. What if letting go makes me feel- what if I feel...” “empty?” “yes” “its hard to let go and allow yourself to be at peace but if you don’t you will never earn true happiness.” Alexia sighs looking around her and thinking. “i’m so over these mind games. But, at the same time i cant be at peace until my enemies aren’t.’ “maybe if i show you something you can.” “o-okay” So i took her to see the mazes of Deirdre and Jesse. I showed her Jesse dying twice at her hands. Completing her revenge. I showed his mother crying begging for mercy that she had never shown anyone before. And i showed her who she would become if she murdered Jesse. Then we came back to the tree. “did that make you feel better.” “honestly, no. I don’t get it. In those two mazes Jesse dies and i kill him. Why doesn’t that happen here.” “those are two different realities created by their inhabitants. Its how they expect you to act. In this reality however, you didn’t go searching for some external way to end Jesse’s life. You looked inside of yourself and that is something that neither of them have. Your journey wasn’t about revenge it was about making peace.” “does that mean Jesse is still alive?” “its up to you. If you kill him in this reality he will be dead. But if you do then so will you in spirit and heart.” “i just want to go home” “thats an excellent choice. Are you ready to answer my question?” “yes” “what did you learn here?” “Choas can be a beautifully miserable thing. It can be created by somebody else, however, the kind of chaos that can end your journey and yourself early is inner chaos. Thats the lesson. We all have chaos in our lives, but how we choose to face it is just that, a choice.” “correct” A door appears infront of her and she walks towards it. Just before turning the knob she looks back. “thank you Narrator. Thank you for everything” “you’re most welcome Alexia. Now go live your life.” She smiles and opens the door entering it.
