“You are going to marry Theo?” Dad asked grimly.
“Lottie... How could you do that?” Leo asked me in bewilderment. “He’s not good for you. How could you do that?” His tone rose a notch at the end of the sentence.
“Dad... Leo... I know he’s not good for me, but... But have my reasons. And I hope you will support me,” I told them calmly.
“Reasons?” Leo asked, still with a bewildered expression.
I nodded. “But I can't tell you about it.”
“Don't ask about it, Leo. She always has her own thoughts,” Dad interrupted before Leo could ask another question.
“Is this going to be dangerous?” Dad asked.
“No,” I replied firmly. I hoped not... I added in my mind.
