Don't touch it.

Diamond's P.O.V The round creater stood taller then I did. Much taller. The glowing orbs dancing around it drew me in like a Moth to a flame but I mustn't touch it. Just look. The temptation to run my hand over the crevices had grown stronger over the years but I made a promise and it was one I planned on keeping. I always wondered what it would feel like. Would it be a rough texture? Maybe soft like a sanded down rock? It was something I'd only know in the future if I was to outlive the crumbling stone anyways. "Diamond!" Alan yelled from behind me, he never liked me seeing this. He hated the rock, no one knows why. But he did. grumbling miserably I turned on my heel to face him "Dad." I mumbled back dismissing the thoughts about touching the rock and meeting him halfway across the field. he huffed slightly out of breath before giving me a lopsided grin. "Are you still going to the ball for the pack arrivals tomorrow?" He asked flinging his arm over my shoulder and walking with me to wherever my feet dragged us. shrugging in response I looked up to the sky. Wishing I could feel some spark of happiness again. "I don't know pops. I..." pausing I thought about the right way to word it. "I don't see why I have to go? I get you are the Beta of our pack but these guys that are coming are ruthless. They hunt anything in sight and what makes you think we'll be anything different? they're the most feared pack and Alpha Ryan isn't the brightest for inviting them other." I grumbled stopping my rant before I said too much. Stopping he spun me around to face him and placed his hands on my shoulders giving them a gentle squeeze. "Your the next in line to become the Alpha. Your the strongest person in this pack and your wolf is even stronger. We need you at this event to keep everything in check because that's what you're good at doing. Amongst other things as well." Here comes the huge speech from Daddy dearest. "Look, if you don't want to go then don't go. But just know I need your support. If I mind link you asking you to come please be here as soon as possible, to stand by my side because I need your help. Don't run away from this issue, it's not like that rock. The rock will stay for many years to come. But you. My sweet little Diamond. You as well as I will die. So let's make the most out of it." Tears welled up in his eyes as he looked down on me with all his pride. He loved me as I did him but sometimes I wasn't in the right head space to listen to the little compliments. Hugging him tightly I nodded my head to let him know I'll think about it. As much as I didn't want to go I knew exactly why I was wanted. As he had said, I was infact the strongest in our pack. Human form and wolf form I out did everyone, not on dilliberate. I was the strongest and the fastest. Something I wasn't proud of but my dad was and so was our Alpha. 'Just go to it, you might find our mate.' My wolf, Lilly, said wagging her tail in excitement. Lilly is a crystal blue ish white wolf. When the sun hit her fur she would literally shine exactly like those of an expensive diamond, hence my name. She's a rather big wolf for a female but she was elegant. Her eyes are green, like those of a forest in the summer time. Bright and shinning. 'for me. Diamond. please?' she begged laying her head on her paws. I scoffed inwardly at her actions knowing what she was doing. 'Fine!' I huffed back blocking the beauty off. "I'll go father." I whispered and the excitement that bubbled from him was so strong it started to pass through me. "On one condition. You have to buy me a new dress and shoes." He nodded in agreement before dragging me to the nearest clothing shop. He really was excited to go to this ball. Picking my dress and shoes was rather easy for me, especially since I wasn't picky and my body suited almost every design. I hated that about myself too. I was stupidly pretty and I didn't appreciate it enough. Maybe it's because of the attention I get, maybe it's because of the jealous girls that roam my way to give me s**t because the so called mates of theirs couldn't stop eye raping me. Anyway. My dress was crimpson red. It was a simple A line dress that had a slit on either side reaching just above mid-thigh. It had a sweetheart neckline with spaghetti straps that looked braided with a clear red fabric that rested on my arms. All in it looked elegant but sexy. I have matching heals to go with it. Red stilettos that are covered in glitter. I already had a picture in my head for my hair and makeup and even my jewellery. Father had an almost matching set to me. A casual black suit but his buttoned up T-shirt was the same crimson red as my dress as well as the little rose he would be having in his blazer pocket. To take the extra step he also bought matching socks so everyone would know I was his little girl. I hugged him tight before giving him a kiss on the cheek and taking a stroll through the woods to my little secret spot. My secret spot consisted of a clear opening with a waterfall in the middle surrounded by rocks. The drop from the waterfall to the actual pond was life risking but I always jumped loving the thrill. Trees hid the area beautifully with the green hues of leaves, along with all the pinks and purples from the cherry blossom trees. It was literally something out of a movie scene and I was glad the Alpha called it mine and only mine. I'd kill anyone on sight if I had too. Taking my clothes off I stripped down just to my flimsy underwear. A tiny red thong with a matching lace bra. I should've threw on my bikini but didn't think about that. I stood on the tallest rock looking down at the water. A twig snapped loudly in the background and I spun on my heel a little too fast causing me to stumble backwards. I heard a cry of some sort, maybe a yell as my body lunged backwards falling from a deathly hight into the water below. but I wasn't afraid. I closed my eyes, loving the way the wind flew around me. Hot water pooled around me as I hit the stream with a splash, the force winded me for a moment but I soon caught my breath. Scuffled sounds come from above me and I snapped my head up to see who was intruding my area. "Are you okay?" A silky males voice entered through my ears and I froze. Lilly stood tall letting out a feirce growl. 'Mate' 'Mate' 'Mate' She chanted. Gasping slightly I chocked on the water that made its way to my lungs. coughing fiercely as I felt the bile rose through my throat from chocking so much. My mate didn't waste a second to climb down the rocks and pat my back making sure I was okay. With each connection his hand made the sparks flow round us like a wire that was still live but had been cut. "Stop." I breathed having my coughing fit over with. "I'm okay." I laughed dunking under the water then surfacing again. 'Mine' lilly giggled as she jumped with glee. The man's eyes didn't move away from mine. He searched for something inside me. Maybe expected me to jump his bones since I knew he felt it too. Or atleast his wolf did since Lilly was speaking to his wolf rather romantically. "Your my mate." He breathed grabbing my hips carefully and leaving his hands resting in the same spot. I untangled myself from him and shoved him away as hard as I could. "Look. Mr. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but I don't want a mate. So please with all due respect reject me." His shock was short lived. Shock turned into hurt. Hurt turned into anger. That's all it takes. A simple sentence to break someone, a single sentence to completely re build someone. A heart is a delicate thing a thing that no soul other then the carrier should have access too. Alan taught me that first hand. Don't ever let your walls fall down for a split second because that's all it takes. It takes 1 single second for someone to change you completely and you allow that to happen. By letting your walls down. Alan lost his mate. She died when I was very young, I vividly remember it. A man had killed her infront of Alan and I. Ripped her head off and kept it for some psychotic reason, he was a force to never be reckoned with. I remember how he looked from behind and when I found him I would do the exact same to that monster that he had done to my would have been mother. "So your just going to reject me without even knowing me?" The male snapped, bringing me back to reality. Shrugging I nodded. "Look. Don't take it personal please. I can't have someone bring down my walls and make me vulnerable. That's what mates do. How about this instead, keep the bond so it doesn't hurt either of us but stay out of each others way? Yes it's not going to be easy but this way you won't feel any pain of the bond breaking." I reasoned. Lilly was raging in my mind. Her breaths short and ragged and she thought hard for control over my body, maybe the man could see that. She was furious with me and I knew if I tried to speak to her she'd block me out. I showed her my memories of my 'Mother'. Her head lied limply in a tall man's grip his red turtleneck back the only view I had of him, as well as his shaggy blonde hair. Lilly was no longer angry at me. She understood. I was scared to have a mate if the same fate would only happen again. 'Diamond, you can't block everyone out. Give him 24 hours to prove he is worthy to be our mate and if not then we will both let him go.' I mentally nodded and repeated my wolfs words to the man in front of me who only did the same gesture that I had just done. Nodded. Hopefully time does heal all wounds. Because mine had still yet to be healed as did Alan's. Maybe we had made a secret packt with each other that day, one we never said but one we both agreed to do at the same time. That one thing we wanted the most. An eye for an eye. A head for a head. We wanted what was best. A dish better served cold. Revenge.
