Twelve This is what she said: We cannot escape our dreams. They are the words and images etched on our souls and we carry them there always. In this life we catch glimpses of them when we close our eyes each night. Then, we are not really asleep; we are really awake because the deepest truths of ourselves push their way to just below the surface of our comprehension. As children we know the truth of this and, unencumbered by layers of ego, we live a dreaming life, and dream a living dream, day and night, awake and asleep. As adults, however, we are better at barriers, and the dreams of sleep and of life rarely break the surface of our egos, and so we put the dreams aside each morning when our feet touch the ground to repeat the daily run toward death.
