Chapter 4- Introductions Interrupted

John Luke's POV

After getting dressed I headed down to my office to finish up some paperwork. As I sat at my desk I decided to reach out to Andrew and Patrick to see how everything was going at the cabin

"How are things going there?"

"Everything seems to be good. Looks like they are getting ready to go out to dinner in town"

"Well keep me updated on where. I plan on trying to meet them"

" Will do Alpha"

Opening the mind link yet again I reached out to my Beta Cillian "hey Cillian have plans tonight?"

"Nope what's up?"

"Get ready we are going out I want to meet my mate"

"Mate?"

"I found her today it's her Cillian it's Sadie"

"Just let me know when we are leaving"

"Will do can you grab clothes for Patrick and Andrew"

"Got it JL see you soon"

"Hey Alpha, what did you want to do with the rogue from earlier?" A voice pulled me from my thoughts. Looking up I saw Jack my younger cousin and a promising young warrior who had just turned 18.

"Just leave him chained up for now I will deal with him later"

"Got it JL" he said almost looking through my hard exterior "hey is everything alright? You look a little down."

"Yeah I'm good Jack. I found my mate but it is a little complicated"

"That's awesome man! Congratulations! When do we get to meet her?"

"Soon hopefully but don't tell people until I tell you it's okay."

"Got it"

After talking with Jack I got a mind link from Andrew telling me they had just left and it looked like they were going to Max's. I linked Cillian to meet me at my Jeep and we headed into town. We pulled up to Max's and we let Patrick and Andrew change clothes and headed inside. Oclan howled out mate and ran circles in my head like a puppy at the scent of Sadie filling the restaurant. We made our way to the bar as we waited to be seated.

My eyes never left Sadie as I talked with my men asking Patrick if there had been any issues while they were watching the cabin. I asked Jack if he would head that way just to keep an eye out. I was memorized the shorts and T-shirt were replaced by a form fitting black dress that ended mid-thigh showing the scar on her leg. Her raven hair fell in loose curls over her perfectly tanned skin and the makeup she was wearing made her blue eyes pop.

The other girls at her table kept their eyes on our group as we stood and talked. The others were pretty, they would make any normal human beyond happy but none of them even slightly compared to my mate, my Sadie.

After a few minutes I saw her get up and begin to walk our way. As she walked my way it was like the world stopped around us. I no longer heard my men talking or the noise of the restaurant only the clicking of her heals against the tile flooring as she slowly walked towards me.

"Hello" I smiled as she neared our group

"Hi" she replied in a surprise tone. Now that she was closer the scent of fresh cut wild flowers surrounded me, Oclan was purring in my mind at being so close to his mate.

Before either of us could say anything else she was bumped into by a waitress. She began to fall forward but I quickly covered the distance between us and caught her. A low growl escaped me as the waitress who bumped into her was a pack member.

As I caught her our skin touched sparks erupted, the mate bond showing itself in a physical way.

I helped her back to her feet and looked into those blue eyes and a big goofy smile spread across my face.

"I'm John Luke" I quickly said.

"Sadie" she replied staring into my eyes

"Are your okay? You aren't hurt are you?" I asked her panicked.

"I'm fine just clumsy in these heels, I'm more of a tennis shoes kind of girl heels were my sister's idea" she joked.

"Good" I replied letting out the breath I had been holding and making a mental note to talk to the pack member to bumped her tomorrow "so what brings you to our little town?"

"We are celebrating graduating highschool and my 18th birthday" she said gesturing over her shoulder to the girls "we are all going different places for college so this is our last hurrah before everything changes"

"Well happy birthday then Sadie" I said smiling and looked over my shoulder at the table of girls staring at our whole interaction.

"It's tomorrow but thank you!"

"So which one is your sister? No offense but you don't look like any of them?"

"The blonde making eyes at your friend here" she laughed pointing over her shoulder " and no offense taken I'm actually adopted so we technically aren't real sisters"

"Oh I'm sorry" I responded sadness laced my voice

"No worries we don't hide it we are used to getting questioned" she smiled back

"Okay. So now that I have put my foot in my mouth what plans do you have for the rest of your trip?" Genuinely curious making mental notes on where I might run into her

"I'm not really sure I think the others want to shop but if I had a choice I would spend all of our time outside"

"Well if you need ideas I would be more than happy to tell you what locals like to do around here" I offered

"That would be amazing" she said handing me her phone "just put your number in there and I will text you later to get ideas."

I had just finished putting my info in her phone when we noticed her food was being delivered to the table. "Thank you again John Luke. Hope to see you again before we leave town" she turned to walk back to the table and I vowed I would see her again. I would keep her safe for the rest of her life no matter the cost.

"You're welcome Sadie, like I said reach out if you want some non tourist activities" I smiled as she walked back.

Soon after she went to her table my group was seated just a few tables away. I flagged down our waitress and let her know I would be covering the bill for her table.

As we sat there Andrew and Cillian were giving me a hard time about being whipped already even though she had no clue why. As they laughed and joked Patrick tapped my shoulder and whispered "cherish her JL, with everything you have" his face solem. His mate had died just a few months before in a rogue attack.

"I promise I will Patrick. We all loved her you know. If you ever need anything let me know"

"Thanks JL"

After a few more minutes of sitting her joking around my eyes glazed over and Jack's voice filled my head

"I think we may have a rogue around the cabin"

"I will be there soon!" I replied while standing from my table and telling the guys to enjoy dinner on me.

I headed out without telling Sadie to have a good night or that she was welcome for dinner. Oclan growled in my mind at the thought of some rogue around her cabin as we headed out of town.
