The Alpha's Missing Luna

Chapter 5- Mate's Protector

Oclan paced in my head growling and snapping, waiting to take control. Anger was rolling off of me at the thought of a rogue near Sadie as I drove my Jeep towards the cabin. I couldn't help but think back to the day of the attack the pain and anguish it caused our pack.

*Flashback*

"Head up JL look for weaknesses!" My dad yelled from just outside the ring as I fought one of the teenagers training to be a warrior for the pack. I focused and saw a large bruise on his shoulder. I put all of my energy into hitting this weak point and took him down pinning him. Holding him down a sharp pain caused my chest to tighten and a voice could be heard in my mind

"protect your mate my child followed by a howl" a soft female voice spoke.

"DAD SADIE IS IN TROUBLE!" the words left my lips as I tried to run towards the door seeing his eyes glazed over.

I could hear yelling from outside and the sound of paws padding against the ground as my father stopped me just before the door.

"John Luke! You are to stay here!" My dad yelled at me as he busted through the doors starting to shift.

"Dad!"

"No son and that is final it is too dangerous there are rogues attacking and you have no wolf" and with that he shifted into his wolf Brody and ran towards the forest in the direction of the clearing. I waited only a moment before taking off after him running as fast as I could, I felt her fear and pain deep in my chest.

"John Luke there is always a reason my son" the soft female voice spoke again and was followed by a gruff voice in my head

"I am here to help now John Luke"

I made it to the clearing just behind the pack warriors and my father growling and and felt a horrible burning pain on my leg. As the pain started I saw a bright light flash causing me to burst past them all scooping Sadie up in my arms. Her leg was bleeding, I ripped off my shirt and bandaged her wound with it. I growl shook the ground as my father shifted back fuming that I had disobeyed him. Something deep within me told me to set Sadie down and the gruff voice once again spoke "protect her".

I stood my ground as my father hurled hurtful words at me stomping towards myself and Sadie. I told him of the voices and begrudgingly he allowed me to stay but said that it wouldn't be the end of the conversation. My father and the warriors began to clean up the area as I kept Sadie entertained.

A strange man I had not seen around the pack approached us telling me he was to take Sadie back to the pack house. I told him no and that my father would be taking her back. I stood between him and Sadie placing her behind me as he yelled "She is going with me."

Anger was rising in me the voice in my head growling and howling to keep Sadie safe. The strange man lunged at Sadie, I felt a sharp pain and was met with a new sensation. I felt different, I felt powerful and I knew I was to protect Sadie. The man was still moving towards us the pain had been me shifting for the first time. I with this new power attacked the man knowing that his plan was to harm Sadie. That was the day I had gotten Oclan

*End*

That attack had taken everything from me, my innocence, my Alpha, my Luna and most importantly my mate. After the attack my father had turned hard changed from the easy going man who put family before anything to a man thrust into the alpha position of one of the largest packs in North America. Long gone were family trips and days of swimming at the lake, extensive training taking there place. I myself had become hardened I gained my wolf Oclan the day of the attack blessed by the moon goddess Selene 11 years early to protect my little mate.

For 11 years more than any other Alpha I trained with my wolf. I became a killing machine rogues didn't dare get near my borders for I had no mercy for them. My warriors were just as ruthless, other packs sent warriors here to train because our strength was second to none. But my hard exterior melted any time I thought of my sweet mate. I would do anything to keep her here to keep her safe.

I quickly arrived at the cabin jumping out of my Jeep. I mind linked Jack asking where to meet him. He gave me directions and I shifted into Oclan running as fast as I could will our paws to go. When I made it to Jack he had found the rogues and was waiting on me to attack. We made quick work of the rogues and Oclan gave back control.

"you okay Jack?" I asked

" Yeah all good Alpha I am just glad the people staying here weren't home? I can assume this is where your mate is staying?"

"You assume correctly. Are you good to watch the cabin for the night?"

"Of course you got it Alpha" he responded laughing

"If anything happens and I mean anything I want you to link me right away and no one else"

"Of course" he looked back at me after agreeing "so is it her?"

I knew exactly who 'her' was in this case "I think so but again no one is to know yet" I left my aura seep out a little to get the point across.

"Promise JL"

After this I got back in my Jeep and drove back towards the pack house. As I crossed into the pack lands my phone lit up so I pulled over

*Hey this is Sadie. I just wanted to thank you for dinner! I told your friends but wanted to tell you myself. You didn't have to do that*

As I read the text message a smile spread across my face.

I shot off a quick text before driving the rest of the way to the pack house

*Hey! You are welcome consider it a birthday gift. Hope you enjoyed Max's it is one of my favorite local places*

As I made my way inside my phone dinged again

*It was great! We are trying to decide were to get lunch in town tomorrow my sister is wanting to shop and recommendations?*

*Well personally I would go to Baloo Burgers you can't go wrong with it. They have a little bit of everything locals love it*

Ding

*That sounds great! Thank you again for dinner. Hopefully I can see you again before we leave in a few days*

The smile that was on my face was beginning to hurt. I had not smiled this much in years but Sadie changed all of that.

* I would like that too. I will see what I can do with my work schedule*

I laughed to myself as I typed out that message knowing that I would cancel anything to spend even a second with her. I headed up to my room and opened the mind link with my parents "are you available for lunch tomorrow?"

"Of course son" my mother answered back quickly.

"Good then I will see you in the morning."

With that I decided to shower and head to bed.
