Gaia
I felt like I might burst into flames. My heart thundered and sputtered in my chest, and my blood felt like it was boiling. There was a roaring in my head, and my skin itched. It had happened so suddenly, the moment midnight hit. I started to panic, overwhelmed, and my stomach clenched and tightened, my body vibrating.
What the hell is going on? The crowd of kids celebrating was getting rowdy, people stumbling about, yelling, whooping and hollering. I clamped my hands over my ears, trying to block out the rising noise. I was going to be sick...
GAIA! I whipped my head towards the sound of my name, realizing a moment later that no one had actually called my name. His voice had thundered into my mind as clearly as my own internal voice. And yet, it was so clearly his voice that had called me.
Dawson… There was a violent, powerful feeling in my chest, and I clutched at my skin, jaw dropping in panic. No one else seemed to be noticing that I was dying, but as I watched, Dawson darted across the room with superhuman speed. He was at my side in a moment, and taking me by the arms, leading me down the stairs.
He had always smelled great to me. But as I inhaled a lungful of his scent now, I felt like every one of my nerves was electrified. My panties were flooded as an intense wave of arousal hit me. I gasped.
Dawson growled. Growled. Like, actually bared his teeth and snarled. I saw pointed canines like a dog. I blinked in shock.
Within moments he had me back inside and we were in the elevator. His friend, stood on our other side, eyeing us both carefully. My stomach clenched again, and I groaned. At least I tried to. What came out sounded like a mix between a whine and a…growl?
The redhead looked down at me in concern. Dawson loosed a snarl at him, making my knees go weak.
“Alpha, I'm only checking on your Luna!” Redhead insisted, as the doors slid open. We were in the parking garage. I frowned. Where was he taking me?
There was another powerful thud through my chest and my legs went out completely, my muscles shuddering. What came out of my mouth this time was a full on howl. Dawson scooped me into his arms and we practically flew through the parking garage, until he was sliding into the back seat of a car, with me in his lap.
“DRIVE!” His voice was thunderously powerful and I whimpered. He stroked my hair, rocking me as Redhead pulled out of the garage so fast the tires squealed. “Shh. Shh, Gaia, you’re alright. I’ve got you. Just hold on, baby.”
You’ve got me? And where are you taking me? I was so confused, but as my body shuddered with pain, I couldn’t even make myself care. His fingers sliding through my hair felt amazing, and I was surrounded by his stunning sweet aroma. Barely in control of myself, I turned towards him, nuzzling into his arms and burying my face into his neck. One of my hands slid into his soft silver hair, the other gripping his shoulder as I pressed my face under the collar of his shirt, running my lips against the burning skin of his collarbone. He shuddered and a low rumble started in his chest. His arms tightened around me and I could feel a rigid hardness in his lap beneath me. I ground instinctively against him and he groaned, his hands tightening to halt my movements.
“Gaia.” He moaned, his voice shaky and thick with lust. It ignited the roaring in my chest and my fingers began pulling the buttons of his shirt loose. He grabbed my hand quickly, snatching it away. “Gaia! Please, I can only be so strong!”
A throb of pain went through my body and a sharp stab shot up my legs. I cried out, flailing.
“FASTER, KHASON!”
I couldn’t see out the window, but I could feel we were driving faster than I had ever gone in a car. I opened my eyes and saw trees whipping past. Trees? What the hell? There were no trees in the city…
I was distracted from my musings as another lightning bolt of pain shot through my back, with an audible crack. I screamed.
“KHASON!” Dawson hollered.
“We’re almost there, Alpha!”
Almost where? The hospital I hoped. My jaw throbbed and I tasted blood. I thought I might pass out. The roaring in my head grew louder.
Suddenly I could feel the night air. Dawson was moving, holding me. I hadn’t felt the car stop moving.
Breathe, Gaia. His voice spoke in my thoughts. I grabbed handfuls of his shirt, gasping through the pain. I know it hurts. It will be over soon. Just breathe, Luna.
Luna? Who the hell was Luna? Jealously ripped through me but was quickly drowned out with another violent shock of pain. My body snapped back. Dawson swore, and I felt myself being lowered to the ground.
It’s okay now, Gaia. We’re on my lands. You can let go. Let the wolf out.
I couldn’t begin to make sense of what he was saying, but there was no controlling what was happening with me. My body thrashed and snapped as my muscles spasmed. It felt like my bones were breaking and reforming. And I was hot, so hot. As I rolled onto my back, I could see the silvery moon shining down between the trees. I opened my mouth in a silent scream before there was one last resounding crack and I blacked out.
