Chapter 1
CATHERINE Catherine Moore sat back down on the edge of the bed as she suddenly felt dizzy. She closed her eyes and checked herself over. This wasn't the first time she'd felt dizzy. At first, she thought it was just a simple case of dizziness from staying up late, but as it happened more frequently, she started to feel alarmed. So, she went to the hospital for a check-up, thinking maybe she had an underlying illness. But Catherine's world was turned upside down when the test results came back. The dizziness wasn't a symptom of a deadly disease, but a sign of something entirely unexpected: she was pregnant. She was four weeks pregnant. She was happy about the pregnancy, believing that a baby is a blessing. However, she couldn't help but feel anxious because her family would have a huge problem when they found out who the father of her child was. Travis Scott - the young and formidable billionaire, the owner of Scott Airlines. And she said it would be a huge problem because the man wasn't her boyfriend. And Travis was committed to someone else. The man had a fiancée, none other than her cousin, Lianne. The incident between her and Travis was simply a mistake, they were both drunk when it happened. In fact, they were both shocked, she and Travis, when they woke up in the morning and found themselves in the same bed, both naked. And based on the ache in her body, particularly between her thighs, she was certain that something had happened between them. And when she looked at her body, it was covered in marks. And the traces of blood left on the bedsheet were proof. Travis was her first. Yes, Catherine had boyfriends before, but she had never gone beyond kissing. She wasn't conservative; she just knew her limits. And as she said, what happened between her and Travis was just a mistake. The man also talked to her about keeping what happened a secret, especially from Lianne. Travis didn't want Lianne to find out because he didn't want to hurt her, and he didn't want their relationship to end if Lianne discovered what had happened between them. And honestly, she couldn't help but feel hurt, especially in her heart, by Travis's words. Why? Because she had secretly developed feelings for Travis. From the moment she first saw him, she had liked him. But since her cousin Lianne was the one he wanted, she had no choice but to love him in secret. All this time, she had been secretly loving him. That was all she could do with her feelings for Travis. She couldn't tell him, knowing he wouldn't feel the same way. She'd just be pitied. But honestly, she couldn't help but feel hurt whenever she saw Travis and Lianne together, especially when they were being sweet to each other. That's why she avoided seeing them together as much as possible. Catherine agreed to Travis's wishes because she didn't want to ruin their relationship either. She knew that the two of them loved each other deeply. But she hadn't expected that what happened between her and Travis would lead to a pregnancy. She hadn't told anyone about her condition yet. She hadn't shared with her family about her pregnancy because she didn't know what to say and she didn't want any trouble. And even to her close friend, whom she often confides in about her problems, she still hasn't mentioned her pregnancy. She's still looking for the right moment. Catherine thought of distancing herself and staying far away just to hide her pregnancy. She would probably return only after she had given birth. That was Catherine's plan, and just recently, she had been looking for a place to stay, somewhere far from them so they wouldn't cross paths until after she gave birth. She had some savings, and she thought of using it to set up a small business to have a source of income for raising her child. Catherine let out a deep sigh. And when she felt a bit better, she stood up from sitting on the edge of the bed. Catherine headed out of the room, down the stairs, and straight to the dining area to eat. She had suddenly gotten hungry after throwing up. And she needed to eat to keep her baby healthy. But she froze in her tracks when she saw who was with her parents at the table. It was Lianne. And she was with her fiancé, Travis. Lianne was temporarily staying at their house because her parents weren't around. In that moment, she couldn't help but feel her heart racing. And instead of continuing to walk, she turned around quickly. As much as possible, she didn't want to face the two of them yet because of what had happened. And she couldn't bear to face Lianne because her conscience was eating away at her. Lianne had been good to her, but what had she done? But she couldn't turn around yet because she was noticed. "Oh, Catherine. Come here," her mother, Cathleya, called out to her. "We thought you'd be waking up later, so we didn't call you," her mother added. Lately, she's been waking up late, so she hasn't been able to join them for breakfast. Maybe it's because of her pregnancy that she's been sleeping so soundly. Catherine bit her lower lip with her tongue as Lianne turned to look in her direction. Travis, on the other hand, kept his gaze fixed on the table in front of him. She noticed that his facial expression was blank, but she could see his furrowed brow. "Come here, Cath," Lianne called out to her with a smile on her lips. She couldn't manage to speak, feeling guilty about her cousin. She felt guilty about what had happened between her and Travis. In that moment, she didn't know what to do. She wanted to leave, but she couldn't. So she had no choice but to stay. She didn't get to retreat anymore. She just kept walking towards them. But she hadn't gotten close yet when she suddenly covered her nose, catching a scent she didn't like. "Something smells bad," she couldn't help but exclaim, still covering her nose, and her face scrunched up in distaste. Catherine saw her mother's frown. "What's smelling bad?" her mother asked her. "Something smells bad," she replied again. "But there's no bad smell," her mother said, then glanced at her cousin. "Lianne, did you smell anything bad?" her mother asked her cousin. Lianne shook her head. "No," she replied, with a look of puzzlement on her face. With a furrowed brow, she removed her hand from covering her nose to check the smell. But she quickly covered her mouth as she felt her stomach churn when she smelled it again. Shit! And before she completely threw up, she ran to the sink and dry-heaved repeatedly. She didn't vomit anything, just saliva. She felt a bit dizzy again for a moment, so she stayed there for a few seconds, holding onto the sink for support. When she felt a bit better, she rinsed her mouth. She didn't want to face them, but she had no choice. She couldn't escape, so she could only hope that they wouldn't say anything to her. Catherine noticed them staring at her, but she just ignored it. She took a step towards the table and then silently sat down in front of Lianne. She was about to get some food because she was hungry, but she stopped when she heard her mother's unexpected question. "Are you pregnant, Catherine?" her mother asked her, her eyebrows almost forming a single line. Her mouth opened and closed at the question. She didn't know what to answer. She hadn't even responded yet when her father asked her another question. "Who's the father?" he asked in a serious tone. Instead of answering her father's question, she couldn't help but glance in Travis's direction, whose eyebrows were now furrowed deeply. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lianne follow her gaze, and it seemed like Lianne had an idea who the father of her child was, as she dropped the utensils she was holding.
