The Betrayal
Juliet
"Juliet! are your things ready? Your new husband is waiting for you". Veronica, my stepmother shouted.
I snapped back angrily, "I'm not going to be that old man's wife, I have said it before and I will say it again. I will never marry him!"
She stormed into the room and slapped me across my face.
"You will marry him, Juliet and that is final. You do not have a choice!" She yelled.
The pain on my face made me burst into tears.
"The only way this marriage won't happen, is if you have €200,000 lying around somewhere." She said.
"This is the best way to clear your drunk father's debt. You have two minutes to come out of this room with your things Juliet". Victoria said as she walked towards the entrance of the room.
I spoke up before she could completely leave the room.
"Why should I be the one to suffer? Why should I be the one to get married to that old fat man? He isn't just my father. He is your husband." I blurted out.
Victoria turned, her face was cold, there was no sign of guilt on her face. "Do not make me come back here." She said before walking away.
I was 14 when my life took a drastic turn. After my mother tragically drowned during a family vacation, I was left in the care of my father. He later married Veronica, who then moved in with her daughter, Eva.
Few years after, my father went bankrupt. Now, he's consumed by gambling and drinking, neglecting me entirely.
I stood there, feeling frustrated and trapped. The thought of marrying that fat old man was unbearable. I quickly grabbed my phone and tried to call James, my boyfriend, but he wasn't answering. It was his birthday, and we had plans to celebrate together.
I needed to get out of here. As I stared at my window, an escape plan came to my mind.
I moved to the window and opened it. As i swung my legs over the windowsill, my heart raced with fear. I had never done anything so daring before. I carefully lowered myself down, my hand trembling as I clung to the ledge.
Finally, I dropped to the ground, my feet landing softly on the grass. I took a deep breath and began to run with one destination in mind - James house.
I got to his house, i reached for the door knob, turned it and the door swung open. It wasn't locked. The sight of a woman’s footwear stopped me in my tracks as I entered into the house.
My eyes scanned the room. There was a champagne bottle that was already popped on the table, with two glasses beside the bottle. One of the glass still had champagne in it, and the other was empty.
On the couch, there was a bra and a woman's underwear. A birthday cake was on the table.
Muffled moans filtered into the parlour. It was coming from the direction of the bedroom.
Then I heard a scream.
"Oh, James... f**k me!”
I stood there shocked. It sounded like a woman's voice. "Maybe... Maybe it was another James." I thought to myself.
"Oh baby, you like it?"
That was James' voice. The house echoed with their moans.
I stormed into the room. They were on the bed. James had his c**k inside a woman, bent on all fours on the bed.
I saw the face of the woman as they both turned to face me.
"What the f**k Eva!” My face blazing with anger.
"Ju... Juliet." James said as pulled out his c**k hastily. He picked a piece of cloth and wrapped it protectively around his c**k.
"You bastard! That's my half sister!" I shouted as I pointed my finger to Eva.
"Juliet, I can explain,” He said as he walked towards me with his hand still holding the cloth onto his c**k.
"Don't come close to me." I spat out angrily. "You f****d my half sister, James . Of all the girls to sleep with, You picked her!”
"Oh please, come on. You probably weren't giving it to him right.” Eva said with a grin on her face.
"Have you no shame, Eva?" I stared at her, my eyes filled with disbelief.
My eyes went to James, as he stood there naked with sweat dripping all over his body. His eyes dropped, unable to meet my gaze.
"I hope it was worth it, James. I really hope it was worth it." I said shaking my head.
"You have no right to judge me, Juliet." He spat back. His voice was low and menacing.
I stared at him, my heart beating painfully against my chest.
"You're not exactly innocent yourself." James said.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I sneered, moving towards him. My eyes locked onto his.
"Eva told me everything. You don't have to pretend.” His eyes narrowed as he leaned closer. "You think I wasn't aware you were secretly sleeping with your boss?"
"What!" My eyes widened in shock and I instantly burst into laughter. Tears trickled down my face as I laughed so hard.
My heart was breaking into shards but I refused to give them the pleasure of seeing how much pain they were causing me.
"You are nothing but a slut with a great acting skill." James spat out.
My hand cracked against his face in a burst of anger. The tension in the room grew more charged.
"Was that really all it took to take out your c**k for her? Or have you always wanted to get into her pants, and decided to believe the lies she fed you?" I shouted.
"Tell me, James!" I placed my hand on his chest and pushed him.
"Have you always wanted to f**k her?!" My eyes were blazing with fury.
I turned to the naked woman sprawled on the bed. "There was no need for you to lie, Eva. You can have this piece of trash."
"We're done James. Don't even think of calling me."
I rolled my eyes towards Eva. "And as for you Eva, you are dead to me!"
I walked towards the entrance of the room, then turned to face them. My eyes burned with unshed tears. "I hope you two burn in hell!" I slammed the door.
I passed by the living room and saw the cake that was on the table. I grabbed it, threw it on the floor and watched it splatter across the room.
I began to run, unsure of where I was going. The wind whipped through my hair, and my heart pounded in my chest.
Then I stopped in the middle of the road and scream.
"Ah!"
Tears flowed uncontrollably down my face. My life was in shambles, and the prospect of returning home filled me with dread.
The thought of facing my stepmother's fury was unbearable. Lost in my despair, I crossed the road, oblivious to my surroundings.
Suddenly, a blaring horn jolted me back to reality, and I turned to see a bright light bearing down on me. Everything went dark as I lost consciousness.
