ABSTRACT LOVE

CHAPTER 14-GILL GETS SACKED

Lisa was living with her mother but still held a desirable grudge on Gill. The fact that he betrayed her in such a manner was unbelievable especially after introducing her to him in the first place.

She was thinking of an idea when her light bulb finally sparked.

'I will get him sacked', Lisa portrayed with a smile.

She knew that definitely his work place wouldn't stand the reason of why he had been away from work.

"Where are you heading off to", her mother instructed after seeing her speedingly open the door.

"I am heading off to make things right", Lisa smerked.

She was wearing a short skirt and a coloured top. She strolled for a while and had a huge side of revenge.

She then arrived at the company. A huge building without about 45 floors separated with about 15 departments.

She walked in and again was greeted by the receptionist.

"Who are you looking for?", the receptionist asked wearing a red top and white jeans.

"I want to speak with the CEO about Gill".

"Do you have an appointment", the receptionist summoned seeing Lisa standing there in complete silence.

"I don't. Can you just send him down here right away". "Sure, I will be on my way", the receptionist responded as she left to bring the CEO into the scene.

"Yes, how can I help you", said a decent and organized looking man with a deep voice.

"Oh, you must be the CEO. I am seeking to tell you about the where abouts of Gill", Lisa introduced as they shook hands.

"You mean our second-in-command!", the CEO said districtly.

"Yes, he was formerly my husband but cheated on me. The day I figured it out was the day I lost my content.

All the days he was away from work, it was because he was cheating and lied to me that he was here........", Lisa said before she was interrupted.

" Wait a minute. You can't just walk in here and begin to lay accuses on a client who has been working here for so many years", the CEO screamed.

Lisa saw the disbelief and so decided to speak up of the other truth that awaited between her lips.

"He got arrested. Yes, I am not lying. He got arrested", Lisa said confidently.

The CEO was surprised to hear those words.

'He would have told me or the company', the distressed man thought.

Lisa again saw the side of dislief from the weird look he kept on his face.

"Pls, believe me. I am telling the truth. Okay look, go through the recently updated mugshot and see if you would see him.

If you don't. Well you can arrest me for falsely accusing an individual", Lisa promised.

"Thank you. I will look into it. Now, out of my company", CEO shouted as he got tired of Lisa's complaints.

" Or do you have anything else to say..... ". He was cut short as he looked to see a disappeared Lisa.

He returned to his office, keeping a more down face than what he kept when he left his office.

"Anything wrong sir?", an employee requested to know.

"Nothing significant. Just get back to work", the CEO said screaming.

The CEO returned to his office.

A beautiful office with nicely decorated walls. He sat down and spoke to the head of the personnel department on phone.

"Go through the mugshot and see if you will notice a picture of Gill".

"Gill, what would he be doing in a mugshot list. Or did he get arrested of late", a worried Arthur(head of the personnel department) stated.

"Well, a girl came in here saying that Gill got arrested and we should check in the mugshot list. I assured her that we will".

"Gill, arrested. That doesn't make sense", Arthur stated.

"She said it was the reason for his absence. Just get to work and be done with it", the CEO commanded.

"Yes Sir", Arthur followed.

"I will report back in a few days", Arthur said while the CEO cut the call.

Lisa went home excited and exuberant.

"Well someone looks happy", Lisa's mum spoke. "Yea. I finally gave Gill what he deserves", Lisa said as she cat-walked away.

'Did I just hear Gill', Lisa's mother thought hoping that it was just a hearing difficulty which she experienced of late. She also refused to be curious as she didn't want to interfere in her daughter's personal life which she knew that Lisa dejected.

Gill also had the thought that Lisa would expose his secret to his company but he didn't take it to heart as he knew that Lisa would not do something drastic.

Two days later........

In the night before the confirmation, Arthur was scrolling down to see if he would see any sign of Gill's mug shot picture all to no luck.

He scrolled until he nearly reached the bottom before he gave up.

"It is not here abeg, make I sleep", Arthur suggested but at that same moment regrettably and mistakenly put down his hand which then scrolled the computer down to the very last person and it was then confirmed that Gill was arrested.

The next morning, he reported it to the CEO and he then contacted Gill for termination.

Meanwhile, Gill and Laurel with Sandra were having dinner. "Wow, the food is delic.......". Gill was cut out by the sound of his phone ringing.

"I'll be right back", Gill said as he excused himself.

"Hello", said Gill curiously.

"Return to work immediately", the CEO said as he cut the call.

Gill then returned to the dining and reported the experience to Laurel.

"Why are they asking you to come back to work. Aren't you not the one who decides on your own if you want to come or not?".

"I don't even understand. Well I better go before he decides to sack me", Gill said with a giggle.

He left and arrived at the office in about thirty mins.

He wore a green shirt and three-quarter jeans. The receptionist immediately walked him to the office of the CEO without even welcoming him first.

Gill began to think that he was about to recieve another promotion.

The CEO is kind but very strict and jumps straight to the point to avoid interruptions.

Once he saw Gill he immediately brought out the termination letter and hurried things up maybe because he didn't want to stay in an office with a criminal no matter the crime.

"Gill I am sorry to say that you have been sacked. I wish you the best of luck as you pursue your different endeavours", the CEO said in a hurry while handing him the termination letter.

"Why are you sacking me", Gill reported. "Sorry, but a young lady came in here and reported that you have been arrested. We searched and discovered that it was true", the CEO stated.

Gill immediately recognised the person to be Lisa.

He wasn't even given time to plead as he was dragged out of the office.

"Laurel, I got some news", Gill frowned when he returned home.

Laurel smiled as she thought that Gill had recieved another promotion.

"I got sacked", Gill then illustrated.

Laurel was shocked and hugged Gill to give him consolation. She didn't really understand why he got sacked but waited for Gill to cool off to understand from him later.

Gill rushed back to his room and began sobbing hoping that things would not turn out as expected.
