CHAPTER 17-THE PROTEST

1079 Words
Gill left most of the equipment that he used to attend the beg for alms. He celebrated, running helter skelter for the achievement. "Calm down", Laurel instructed her charming husband. Unfortunately for her, by then he was already long gone. Laurel awaited home, hoping to gain back some unanswered questions. "So, who is Roger?", Laurel queried as soon as they returned home. "Just a random man that I made friends with while I was away from you", Gill lied to hide the truth that the friend was a gambler of his who unluckily, never won a gamble. Laurel could not help the feeling that he was hiding something but she soon let it all slide. She decided to focus on herself and her family than what is going on from the outside with her husband. Meanwhile, Lisa was enjoying her time. Her dream of Gill getting sacked had finally come true. Her mother saw her sudden cheerful mood and decided to query knowing quite well that her daughter hated that particular attitude. "Why so happy my dear", her mother asked. "My dream has come true", Lisa said as she frolicked away. Her mother was stunned by the answer either because she hardly saw her daughter happy or she was in an age of unexpected black out but nonetheless, she began to pray a big smile on her face. Lisa wore a crop top and a light mini skirt to go out that very morning. Two weeks later..... Bring.... Bring.... Gill's phone rang as he slept. He wasn't normally use to early sun shine because his last work accepted heavy sleeping but he enjoyed the moment anyway. Gill had spent so much time preparing what he was going to say to the CEO with Sandra and finally, the day had come. "Hey man. What's up", Roger retaliated when Gill finally answered the phone. Gill was wearing a singlet for a top and a very light and brownish looking trouser. On the other line, Roger wore a red suit and white jeans and spoke to him about the contract. "The application is in a few minutes", Roger explained. "Already submitted", Gill replied. Roger recognised the sincerity of Gill and figured that he would be great for the job. He got some more info on him and figured out that he was judgement free. "So it's settled. At noon, the contract is given, be there", Roger said as he uploaded the direction to his phone. At noon...... It took 30 mins before Gill finally got out of the office. It was announced to him that the result of his application will be submitted and revealed in about 2 days time. The family took the information likely, thanked Roger for all his help and returned home to discuss better matters. "I think when I get this job, by God's grace, we should help all the poor beggars on that street and plan a protest for them to unblock the road", Gill shockingly said. Laurel did not take the news likely. "And how are we going to do that. We don't have enough people or trust worthy civilians to carry out this task, do we?" Laurel said with a statement. "Don't worry, I got this. Leave the hard part to me", Gill smerked as he strolled away. Two days later.... Gill arrived at the company even more nervous than when he arrived to take his application. "Be careful man. If you do get the job, he gives you this long and underwhelming speech about the importance of this job and the work you play in making this company better", Roger warned. "Thanks man. I will take that to heart", Gill assured. "Good news. You got the job as a task manager", the manager said immediately as Gill walked into his office. "Now, this job takes skill and precision to not fall into the wrong track. You have to monitor the movements of all cargos in and out of the organisation. Do not let there to be any unstandard product on the deck. Make sure that all workers are performing up to standard", the manager said as he soon instructed Gill to leave. The manager of this organisation was a soft hearted man but did not take any thing for granted. He loved his job with his life and everyone in it. He seemed to be in his late forties but looked like his early twenties. He is average heighted and always loves to look formal. Gill left the partly confined office shrieking and jubilating thanking his heavenly father for forgiving him of all his sins. Two weeks later.... Another two weeks but unfortunately, Sandra was still not in school yet. Gill bought a magnophone with his welcome bonus and hurried off to beggars Street. "Beggars available here. I invite you all to come and protest for your freedom of the blocked road. If you are with me accept and try to gain yourself freedom", Gill shouted. At that very moment, Lisa also happened to be passing by and recorded everything that was said by Gill intending to report it to the police for another arrest. Other than that, things went according to plan. The influence of the protest had spread through out Havarly Hills leaving the place in pure shock. A few words can make a difference as Gill smiled every time he watched the news. In case you noticed, Lisa intently followed Gill back to Havarly Hills. When she was informed where Gill was going by the great friend of Laurel, she immediately packed her things and went carrying her mother along with her. She arrived there and began searching for Gill also using every little piece of info she can to get to bring Gill back to prison. "See my plan worked. I have been watching news ever since I did my act and the protest had spread through the entire area. Government will have no choice but to open back the road to the beggars". While Gill and Laurel celebrated and delegated for when Sandra was returning back to school, Lisa had valuable piece of evidence that in her mindset would keep Gill in jail for a long time. She called it 'Noise pollution' and going against the will of the government. 'It will not be long before the deed is done', Lisa thought as she returned back home with a stern look and walking straight ahead to her room.
