CHAPTER 9-MISTAKEN REGRETS

901 Words
"What you are arrested", was the shocked response from a distressed Lisa. She ran into the car as she queried, "Which prison?". Gill paused took a deep breath and then spoke, "I am in Santana Prison". Lisa kept the call on and drove as fast as she could to Santana jail to witness a sight she never hoped to behold. She arrived there and asked about Gill if he was avaliable, "Oh, yes. We just recieved a new intake named Gill about two days ago". With that, Lisa rushed in while the police took her to the communication point. "I can't believe you. You finally did it. Now I am in jail for two years because of you", Jessie said while restraining herself from a slap. The rain of insults was cut short by the voice of a stand-by guard. "There is someone here to see you, you only have five mins". Gill immediately left the premises without hesitation looking forward not to hear anymore of Jessie's insults. With a guard standing by behind him, Gill picked up the phone and awaited a pick up. "So how are you doing, now in jail?". It took no time for Gill to recognize the voice and with that he responded. "Are you here to rain more insults on me?". "No, I just need some answers". Gill thought about it for a while and in the end decided not to lie but instead say the truth. 'At least it couldn't get any worse than this', Gill thought to himself. "Well it all starts when I was drinking. I met this beautiful lady called Jessie who I started cheating on you with. All those days that I said I was going to work, well I actually just went to a one-room apartment to hang out with Jessie. Even those nine months that I told was for work was just an excuse to hang out with Jessie. But now, I have seen my mistake. I trespassed in a place they wrote 'NO TRESPASSING' and was arrested. Pls forgive me", Gill pleaded. Lisa then realised that all her thoughts were right and swore revenge on Gill for what he had done. She then planned a divorce with him after he had been released and she longed for that day to arrive. Soon enough, they were both dragged out of the scene. "So who was it?", a saddened Jessie asked. Gill knew he couldn't hide the truth forever and so told her what he had supposed to tell her for a long time. "Well, I have been cheating on you with my already married wife, Lisa. All the days I told you i was doing night time work. It was just a lie to hang out with my wife and that is why I never answered any of your marriage requests". Gill felt good getting all those lies he had been holding for so long out of his chest. The same couldn't be said about Jessie though, she was furious. She gave Gill another resounding slap for lieing to her all these months which Gill didn't take likely. "How many times are you going to slap me?, eh.... eh". "As much times as I want, you liar". With those words the circumstance broke into a quarrel and then into a fight and the guards came to separate them. They took them to different cells and warranted them with a warning. Gill's and Jessie's relationship ended rather quickly. In the space of a few months their relationship was nothing to write home about. Lisa in the mean time needed to visit someone that could clear her mind so she visited her mother, her last surviving parent. "How are you doing my little baby", Lisa's mum questioned. "Things aren't looking good, I am planning divorce". "What divorce, why?". "Nothing significant. It's just that my husband has been cheating on me with one lady like that", Lisa said with tears in her eyes. Mrs. Emma was stunned to hear those words. Her so called son-in-law was a cheater. She glared at Lisa while Lisa glared at her. "Get your things ready and plan that divorce. I cannot live with that human being in my house hold any more", Lisa's mother said angrily. Lisa slept there for the night and planned to live there possibly until she had earned money to acquire a job of her own. Her mother was a marketer until she retired and now lived without a husband. Mr. Emma died about nine years ago. He was a war seargant and died during the civil war back in the day. That was when Lisa's mother was still pregnant for Daniella and Lisa who are twin sisters. Lisa's eldest sister died a few years after her marriage while Daniella and Lisa were yet to have a good marriage. Daniella lived in a two bedroom flat while Lisa has returned to her mother. IN THE PRISON CELL..... It didn't take much time for Gill and Jessie to be called for recession in the prison yard. Santana Prison was the best faciliticed and popular prison there was but still had its down sides. Gill stayed in the prison for quite a while and unlikely began to like the company. It wasn't as bad as he would have thought. To a normal reasoning, Gill still longed for the day of his release.
