CHAPTER 11-THE SEARCH BEGINS

955 Words
Mr. Donald had just hit his early nineties but with the help of Gill began to find solace with the world. Gill had changed from his ways and lived comfortably and happily with his father. Gill began to notice an unusual urge which bugged him to ask his father a question which he had queried about for a few months. "Dad, what really did happen to my mom", Gill asked and listened curiously hoping for a response. "I am not even sure but from what I heard from a personal assistant of mine, she was killed by the means of shock" "Jesus, what shocked her?" "I suppose that it was the pain of having a divorced son", Gill's dad said in his usual mild voice. Gill knew that he had brought pain to the lives of his parents and everyone as a whole. He decided to make things right and perform a dastric change. Laurel, on the other hand didn't decide to remarry. For her, marriage was an endless cycle of pain and suffering. After the experience with Gill, she never wanted to marry again. She would rather live alone with her child than marry and suffer pain. Due to the lack of money, they progressed to the streets begging for alms and after that, with the help of one of her best friends, travelled to a town where things were rather quite cheaper and easier to afford. On the occasion of going to buy some goods from the market, she queried about where she could acquire such goods. "That can be found at Knuckles Street, beside the filling station. Go there and you will find what you seek", a wise old man stated. Laurel and her child, which she named Sandra went to the location said by the man asking for directions along the way. It took a while but she finally arrived, wearing a ragged looking gown. To her dismay, there was no one there. It took the sound of a fallen trashcan for Laurel to realise that she had been tricked. They beat up her son and Laurel as well, stole their money before they left them alone. Laurel arrived back home depressed and seeking conciliation but all she could see in reality was a hungry child and an abondoned apartment where they resided. "It was Laurel and she was stepping in hell but she didn't realise it. I tried to save her but I failed", Gill reported as he explained his dream. "You need to find this girl and save her from her oppression. This dream is a prophesy I can already see it. Go find this girl and save her from the situation that she has found herself in". Gill hired the help of an assistant to help his father while he visited his company to ask about Laurel and for the first time in a long time the receptionist invited Gill into the organisation. "Welcome, Gill. Long time no see. Your office has been shifted to the 14th floor and the CEO has been looking to see you for about three years now". "Thank you", Gill said as he went in the elevator and hurried up to the manager's office. "Gill, long time no see. I have been meaning to talk to you about where you have been all this while", Jason said. "Pls, I don't have time. I am looking for my past wife, Laurel", Gill said while trying to avoid his first question. "Hay, so you have lost your wife. What is the occasion?", Jason asked playfully. "Just answer me, Jay. She is the last hope I have". "Sorry, I haven't seen her. Let me try and contact the employees. Possibly one of them might be able to know". "Thanks", Gill said thankfully. It took from noon till evening for all the members to have been interrogated. Unfortunately, no one had the answer Gill was looking for. "Sorry about that", said Jason. "Don't worry about it. I will find her", Gill said and rushed out of the premises. "Well you b.....", Jason paused as Gill was nowhere to be seen. Gill returned home to his father and began telling him the news. "I couldn't find her", Gill said saddened. "Umm... Who are you looking for?", the hired personal assistant asked. "Oh, just his past wife, Laurel", Mr. Donald said. "I know who she is. I am her best friend". The two looked at her with a look of disbelief. "Look, if you don't believe me here is her phone number", Dennis said as she handed the phone over to Gill. "It's true. This is her phone number. Quickly call her", Gill said anxiously. The phone was picked up at the other line and Dennis put it on speaker. "Hey, Laurel. Where are you?" "Don't you already know". Gill was stunned to hear her voice again. "Pls, let me just confirm", Dennis commanded. Laurel told her again that she was at Havarly Hills. The poorest town in the continent. It was confirmed and so with that Gill was so overjoyed. He ran helterskelter until he finally came back to his senses. He then planned to prepare a flight to visit Havarly Hills. It was also explained to Gill that she adopted the child and was duely suffering which was the reason she travelled to Havarly Hills. "And don't forget, try to make her forgive you before you begin to help her. She is really in a down state right now", Dennis informed. "Okay", was the sincere reply of Gill. He bid his father farewell as well as thanked Dennis for all her help as he ran out of the building. For him, his next stop was Havarly Hills.
