Gill sat blankly at the table staring at the manager for such a sudden news. He was lost in thought when the security arrived at the scene.
"Who are we to carry along, sir", the security instructed.
"The man sitting in that chair over there", the manager replied.
With that, Gill was dragged out of the scene and lured away as well as thrown out of the company.
Gill walked home sorrowful and depressed.
He immediately began to wonder how Laurel would react to the situation.
In another setting, Lisa was thanking Roger for all his help into getting her the chance to sack Gill again.
What made the situation better is that he might as well be arrested also.
"Anytime. That Gill was a real pain in the neck", Roger emphasised.
"You can say that again", Lisa replied as she slowly left the premises bidding Roger farewell.
Gill booked a taxi and while wearing his fashionable shorts and polo, he hopped in.
Soon enough, he arrived home and immediately rushed to tell Laurel the news; this time without hesitation.
"But why!", Laurel exclaimed.
"God has given us blessings and soon enough the devil takes that away from us", Laurel continued.
The thought of Gill getting sacked twice was one that she could not bear.
"So now we use our money and spend the rest moderately before we head back to the streets", Laurel pictured vividly.
"I guess so", Gill retorted back.
It took a while before Gill finally came up with the idea of telling Sandra the predicament to alert the whole family about the situation.
Laurel approved the idea and she volunteered to be the one to break the news to her.
'Dong, Dong, Dong', was the sound of the door after Laurel had knocked on it.
"Come in", sounded the voice of a cold heart broken child. It was so underwhelming.
Laurel came into Sandra's room.
It is a well furnished apartment with posters and banners everywhere.
Those are slight attractions which Gill buys for her occasionally.
Sandra is a very smart girl but her talent does not get shown mainly due to the circumstances.
There is limited amount of money to buy her books to read or even toys to play with.
She usually lies down on her bed and sobs most of the time or occasional dwell herself in the likes of the posters and banners which she admired dearly.
Laurel then turned on the lights only to see Sandra sobbing under her pillow.
"Why the long face", Laurel asked her daughter even though she was quite certain of the answer.
"I am tired mom. I don't get the facilities I need to live a good and decent life and I hate it", Sandra annoyingly illustrated.
"I wish we could get a breakthrough of finances", Sandra added.
Laurel saw Sandra's mood and so decided to save the news for later, probably when she was in a better state, while also trying to console her daughter.
One month later........
A whole month past by and the money earned from a few weeks job was still available.
It was just to tell you the magnitude of the the cash available.
They all used the money wisely trying to savor it while also trying to live healthily.
It took another month before the day finally arrived. The day that their finances had elapsed.
"So how did Sandra take the news", Gill finally decided to query Laurel.
"Quite well", Laurel said and then hesitated.
"Oh who am I kidding. I have not yet told her. I was planning to do that the day when we decided to leave to the streets", Laurel confessed.
Gill could be claimed as furious but yet understanding as he knew the reason why Laurel would perform such an act.
"No worries. I will go and tell her myself", Gill then finally stated.
Gill left without a hinge, telling Sandra the immediate news and returning back to meet Laurel.
"So how did she take the news", Laurel immediately asked.
"Well for me, all I can say to that is the fact that our daughter may be having a bad case of depression", Gill exclaimed.
"Can you really blame her. She doesn't go to school or do anything with her life. All she does is to sob all day long", Laurel supported.
"Well it is not our fault. We try for her but she does not show it. It is bad luck in our side and the plans of the devil are beginning to take a toll for us", Gill said while trying to gain back his breath.
Meanwhile, Lisa was busy calling Roger again to tell him the fun times she had as they both took down Gill and got him sacked for no logical reason.
They discussed for quite a while.
"I am so happy that we met. Taking down the menace with a partner was much more satisfying", Lisa retorted.
"Yea. He was beginning to get too troublesome", Roger exclaimed.
"You know, we should do this again sometime", Roger insisted.
"How about tomorrow at seven", Lisa suggested and with that it was then confirmed.
"So it's a date", Lisa said.
"I guess so", Roger followed up as they hung up to go to bed.
The day finally arrived and as usual, they packed their bags and prepared their money pots for a usual and casual day of begging.
Sandra didn't look lively and neither did anybody else but they had to do it for the sake of finances.
Without further ado, they packed their bags, hopped on the nearest bus and zoomed off to beggars Street.
The first day of the second outing wasn't as good as the first. They made only about 700 Naira compared to the huge sum they made during the first outing.
They returned home desperate and starved.
They began to wonder if everyday would be as unresourceful as this day.
Upon that, they still hoped for the best and prepared for the worst.
The thought of seeking for help wasn't an exemption for the mindset of Gill.
Meanwhile, Lisa and Roger were on their first date and found each other rather ammusing, realizing that they have a lot in common.
"Thanks for the good meal", Lisa thanked.
"Anytime", Roger joyfully replied.
He paid for the bill as the single man and woman held hands and frolliked towards the well-parked car.
