With my case as good as solved, I spend the whole of the next day finalizing the papers for the transfer of the prisoner to the San Francisco prison. By the end of the day, it has all been arranged and two officers have been assigned to see it through because it will surely not be me. I have just found Annabel again, there is no way I am letting go yet. I call Chief to inform him I am taking a leave for a while and I feel his disapproval radiating through the phone, he thinks I should wait to take the leave until after David stands trial next month so the case can finally be closed but I decline the suggestion, I'll go back before his trial is due.
I sigh as I finally stride out of the police headquarters and head for my car. I check the time on my watch and it reads 5;17.
