I stare at Noel in disbelief as she stares at me in earnest. She was being serious. She was actually willing to have a baby with me, but even I knew that it wasn’t because she had feelings for me or because she was feeling the bond between us. Instead, I was certain it was because of her feeling like she owed me for helping her.
“Don’t,” I say slowly, wanting to reach out and just hug her. “Don’t do that.”
