When I opened my eyes, I instantly closed them again because of the bright light…. After a while, I again opened my eyes slowly. This time, I was comfortable with the light. I tried to scan my surroundings. It was a simple room with a bed where I was lying, a table and a wardrobe. I knew this place, it was Mia room. How did I get here?

I hold my head with both hands and remembered everything that happened to me just a while ago.

While I was thinking, the door suddenly opened and Mia came in. She was surprise at first, but that look was replaced by happiness instantly.

“You're awake” She said, grabbing my left hand while sitting beside me. “You scared me to death”

“How did I end up here? I remember passing out on the road” I asked her, confused.

"Thank goodness you remember. Yesterday, you called me telling me you're coming over. I waited for years and years, but you never come, nor did you pick up your damn phone” She said trying to look angry, but I can see how worried she was.

Wait…. Yesterday?

“What do you mean by yesterday?” I asked her, “wasn't it a while ago”.

“A while ago? You have been sleeping for a whole day, Lila. Do you know how worried I was, I called, but you didn't pick, I got scared thinking you might have been kidnapped, when I went to search for you, I found you lying unconscious on the road. Do you know how even hard it was for me to pick you up to get into the car and from the car to the bed?”

“You mean I have been unconscious for a whole day?” I asked her in shock.

“Yeah…. Lila, I'm sorry I didn't take you to the hospital. I have used this month salary to get this wardrobe” She said looking down on the floor.

“Come on, I'm fine now. What happened to that… I mean man?

“Which man Lila?” She looked at me confused.

“That naked man covered in blood?” I said.

“What are you saying, Lila? Which man? You were alone there” She said.

“You mean I was alone? “

“Yeah. Now tell me what exactly happened. Why were you there? Why did you leave the house at midnight?” She demanded.

“They asked me to leave….” I told her everything, the hotel, the adoption, Anna deal and the check.

Listening to my words, Mia got furious. “How could they do this to you? Even if you aren't their real daughter. How could she be this wicked to sell you for money? All these years, they made you work like a slave, and you never complained. I think you should tell your Dad about this”.

“No, Mia, it's alright. I don't want to go back there. I'm afraid I might not escape if my mom plans something like this again” Remembering how I almost got raped.

“Lila, if you don't want to go back there, its fine we can both stay here” She came forward and hug me.

“Thanks Mia” I said, breaking the hug.

“What about the man you mentioned before” She asked me.

I begin to tell her everything. How big the wolf was, how mesmerizing were it eyes, how my heart aches when I saw those blood, how those magicians girls emerged light from their hands, how they hurt him. He then turned into a human and those girls tried to hurt me, but themselves were burnt to death.

After listening to my words, Mia face turned pale, it took a while for her to get back to her normal face. She didn't speak for a while, just looking at me. After a long time, she finally said, “Lila, don't tell anyone about this, they will think you're crazy. Let's find you a job, write would live together and take care of ourselves” She said.

“But I'm telling you the truth, it happened, for real” I tried to convince her.

“Yeah Lila, I believe you” She said, patting the back of my hand. “I'll get you some food, you haven't eaten anything for almost a day” After saying this she got up and start walking towards the door.

“Wait… Forget about it” I sighed and fell back to the bed.

“Lila, it will be good if you don't tell anyone about this” Mia said and left.

I don't even know whether she believes me or not.

Few days after the incident. I have applied for many jobs, but I didn't get any news. Mia was busy with her job.

I never went out, I never have guts either. I was scared, maybe. But I never left the apartment. I used to smile…. I used to talk and smile like I was okay in front of Mia but once she was out of the house. I just lay on the bed and cry my eyes out.

Memories of my mom, the one who grew me, the only one I know as mother. All of a suddenly said she isn't my mom. But where are my biological parents, I didn't fall from the sky, I definitely have a parents and they left me.

I really missed Dad. I don't know where he was, he never tried to contact me all these days. Did he know what happened? He was the only one who love and care for me. Knowing I'm not his biological child hurt inside. I don't know if I should be angry for laying or thankful for him not telling me the truth. All I could do at this moment is to cry.

I'm at Mia apartment as usual. It's a two-room apartment, one of them is the kitchen, and another is the bedroom. Which I and Mia share. I was looking for more jobs online when I received a call.

“Hello” I said as I picked up the phone.

“Is this Lila Wilson?” An unfamiliar voice came.

“Yes I am” I said.

“This is from Golden company, your resume has been selected. You can come to the interview tomorrow for the interview”

“Really?” I said, trying to calm down. “What time is the interview?”

“At 9a.m. I wish all the best for tomorrow. Good day” With that, he hung up the phone.

I was so excited that I called Mia right away and told her the news. And in honesty, she was much happier than me.

She was afraid that if I don't get busy soon, I'll get depressed. She really took good care of me.

The night day, I wake up in the morning in a good mood. I took a quick shower and put on my oversize sweater and long pants. I rolled my hair inside the towel and went to the kitchen. I made two sandwiches and two cups of coffee for me and Mia.

While I was setting breakfast on the table, Mia came out of the room, when she saw the sandwich and coffee on the table, she quickly grabbed them and took a bite. “Yummy…. It's so tasty” She said, chewing.

“I happy you like it” I said and sat with her. We both had our breakfast quietly, and in a good mood. After a long time, I'm finally happy.

After we finished eating. Mia insisted on blowing my hair, she even chose a dress for me to wear. She picked up a white shirt and a black pant, and a matching office shoe. After that, she applied a light makeup on my face.

Then I made my hair as always collected it at my left neck, and tied it with a rubber band. After I got dressed, I also put on a coat as it was winter. Mia also got ready for work, then she drop me at the entrance of the Golden company.
