ASAEL'S P.O.V. “This is your fault” Maliah hissed quietly so no one could hear her, but I remained still trying not to glare at her again Enora had already brought hell down on the pack, and it took everything in me not to break out of character, not kill her and show the pack just how ruthless I am and what I could do to anyone who defied my orders I watched silently and people moved out of the hall, but the hair at the back of my neck stood up as something held my attention at the window No… “Rogues!” someone shouted and chaos erupts within seconds "Get the elders to safety! Warriors form a line at the perimeter! Maliah, get out of here!” I growled not turning to her. “I’m not running,” she shots back, and I glared at her “I said…” I shifted and pounced on a rogue that lunged at me and tore him limb for limb in a flash. I turned to find her but she was gone. Damn that girl! I growled at myself and focused on the battle unfolding in front of me as more warriors fought with their lives. I smashed two heads together before I drove my claws into one of their stomachs and pulled their guts out. Without thinking, I pushed towards them, killing every one of them in sight, fury blinding my vision, but I didn't care, they messed with my pack, and now they were messing with me. I moved with intense focus, but something suddenly caught the corner of my eyes and I faltered, almost getting scratched, but I kicked his head off. I turned to my side and my eyes widened. Maliah stood in the middle of it all She moved like a damn ghost while covered in blood like a menace. With daggers in her hands, she struck two rogues with astonishing movement, spinning and ducking out of the way of more attacks, it was unbelievable. My breath was caught in the wave of the moment as I could take my eyes off her. Her hair glowed from the light of the window and realization hit me, this wasn't a move any omega could pull off, this was a warrior's move. “What the hell?” I muttered before snapping back to reality. The rogues suddenly began retreating causing me confusion “Alpha Asael!” a warrior yelled, bolting in “What is it?” I snapped and he pushed a paper into my hand. “This was pinned to one of the rogues we killed. You need to see it.” I frowned and tore it open. Stay away from Maliah Bren. She is more trouble than you think. You’ve been warned. I furrowed my eyebrows as I read it again, rage bubbled in my chest. Who would send this? And why was Maliah a target? “Did anyone catch one of them alive?” I demanded. “Yes, Alpha, one is being held for questioning now.” “Good. Show me” my gaze flicked to Maliah who was breathing hard and glaring at me and I grabbed her hand. "You’re coming with me.” “What?” she gasped. “Why?” “Because, someone seems very interested in you. And I’m going to find out why.” The rogue sat in the dungeon with chains wrapped around its disgusting body while he fought to get out, but it was no use. My skin burned with rage as I looked at him. “Who sent you?” I demanded and he barked out laughter. "You don’t know what you’ve married, do you?” I growled, stepping forward. "Answer me.” I snarled, resisting the urge to snap his head off. “She’s his blood. His blood.” I frowned my eyebrows as fear set in his eyes while he looked at Maliah. “Whose blood?” “The devil’s spawn.” I looked at Maliah who had suddenly gone pale, and I narrowed my eyes. “What is he talking about?” I asked her quietly. “I…I don’t know what he’s saying,” she stammered, her voice trembling. "You married the daughter of Alden Darkmoor. The man who slaughtered entire packs. The devil in flesh. That’s her bloodline. You’ve brought ruin to your pack and everyone else!” My blood ran cold and everything fell silent, and I searched her face for any sign of denial but there was none. “Is this true?” I demanded, my voice so low that I couldn't recognize it. “Asael, I…I didn’t know…” “Is it true?” I growled and tears poured out of her eyes. “Yes.” she whispered, and I clenched my fist Alden Darkmoor A name spoken only in whispers, a name that struck fear into the hearts of wolves across the continent. The man who had killed thousands, who had torn apart packs without mercy, who had left me to drown after slaughtering everyone in my family. The door suddenly burst open and a warrior came running "Alpha! We found another message.” I opened the letter with my fingers trembling slightly in rage. You were warned. She will bring death to you all. The daughter of the devil cannot be tamed. “What have you done?” I whispered loud enough for her to hear and she stumbled backwards. “I didn’t ask for this! I didn’t choose who I was born to!” "You knew. You knew what you were, and you didn’t tell me.” rage explodes through my veins as betrayal sinks in. “I didn’t…” “Take her to the east wing, lock her up until I decide what to do with her.” I looked away from her. “You can’t do this!” "You’ve lied to me, Maliah. You’ve lied to all of us, take her away” “Asael!” she screamed as they dragged her away. “You don’t understand!” The daughter of Alden Darkmoor and now she was tied to us with the marriage I had forced What the hell have I done?
