Chapter 33 “David! Maggie! She squeezed my hand. I felt it.” Maggie was on her feet as David looked up from his newspaper, more from the tone of his wife’s voice than from her words. In fact, it took a few moments for their meaning to sink in. “You sure?” was all he could think to say. Maggie was leaning hopefully over the bed. She stood there, not knowing what to do or say. Would this be the moment Cam really came back to them? “Call Shirley,” Maggie managed to say. “I know something’s happening.” David got up and walked to the door, but Shirley was in the room before he could open his mouth. What ears that woman had! Shirley rushed past Maggie, pushed back the chair that David had vacated, and checked the monitors. Yes! Cam’s blood pressure had risen. Not a lot, but it was hopeful.
