“I haven’t found a thing, Maggie. Eight months here and nothing.” Pauly sat in the embassy office, his head resting on the hands that were held up by elbows planted firmly on his knees. They’d just watched the video that had been transmitted to the US.
“It’ll take time, Pauly,” Maggie soothed. “She’s been gone so long maybe no one remembers where she is.” Maggie tried to be optimistic but somehow she couldn’t make the transition. Everything looked bleak to her. “She could be in the basement of this embassy, for all we know.”
