With David, Janet was truly happy for the first time. Now she had everything: a child, money, prestige, a man in her life to help make her feel like a woman, and most importantly as a result of all of these a strong sense of self.
Even though Chicago was a big city, Janet played it safe and spent the hours with David at his apartment. She even parked in his parking lot so her car was not visible from the street.
