Episode 5

Ryder was like a very addictive magnet; one that I was constantly drawn to.

He moved his head closer to me, but not too close. It felt like he was asking me for my permission to kiss me.

Without another thought, I moved in and closed the gap between us. As his lips touched mine, I felt the electricity course through my entire body as if I were on fire.

He kissed me so passionately but gently that I released a small moan into his mouth.

That must have triggered him because then his kiss became much more urgent and fervent. His hands roamed my body until he found my ass and lifted me up so that he could hold me as we continued our make-out session.

We were so caught up in the moment that we didn’t hear anyone enter the room with us until an extremely loud growl echoed through the room.

I jumped down and out of Ryder’s hands as soon as I heard it and turned around to see a fuming Adonis at the door. My heart jumped into my throat as I observed the pissed-off expression on his face.

“WHAT THE f**k IS THIS?!” Adonis yelled in a voice I had never heard him use before.

He looked at me with a hurt, but still pissed off look that made my heart flutter. I wanted to answer him, and I know I needed to… even if it were just to tell him that I was sorry; but my mouth seemed to be locked shut.

Adonis’ eyes started to change to a jet-black color as he turned his attention away from me and towards Ryder.

“You couldn’t wait to get her alone and try to persuade her to go to you, huh?”

I knew I needed to say something before this situation got out of hand. I opened my mouth but…nothing. Nothing came out.

I looked over at Ryder and I fully expected him to be enraged as well, but he wasn’t. As a matter of fact, he looked way too calm as he stared right into Adonis’ eyes.

He looked almost regal as he stood tall and leaned his head to the side a little.

“Adonis…”

“ALPHA ADONIS!” Adonis corrected.

Ryder took a deep breath and raised his eyebrow as he let Adonis’ words register in his mind. I couldn’t be sure, but it seemed as if he was battling whether to call Adonis by that name or not.

After a few more seconds he sighed very lightly and obliged.

“Alright…Alpha Adonis” he said with a bit of a bitter tone, “I didn’t have to persuade her to do anything.”

I watched hopelessly as Ryder took quite a few steps towards Adonis.

It looked as if he was provoking Adonis and although I am still learning about werepeople, I am sure that is considered a very bad thing to do.

“She is my mate and you know just as well as I do that our bonds grow each and every f*****g second that we are together.” Ryder taunted.

Adonis growled and shoved Ryder back a few inches.

“I KNOW WHAT THE f*****g BOND DOES!” Adonis yelled and his voice bounced loudly throughout the room and probably through the house as well. “THE BOND SHE SHARES WITH ME GROWS MORE AND MORE EACH DAY! NOW IT SEEMS TO ME THAT YOU HAVE BEEN FORGETTING YOUR PLACE LATELY. YOU DO NOT STEP UP TO ME AND YOU DAMN SURE DON’T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY MATE!”

“I WOULD NEVER TOOK ADVANTAGE OF HER! THAT’S WHAT THE f**k YOU DID!” Ryder yelled back as his calm demeanor changed to a more hostile one. And without thinking, he stepped towards Adonis again.

Again, Adonis shoved Ryder to get him out of his face, but this time, Ryder barely budged from the spot he was standing in. Adonis looked surprised and humorlessly chuckled as he continued the staring contest with Ryder.

“WATCH WHAT YOU SAY TO ME, Beta. I AM YOUR ALPHA AND YOU’D DO GOOD TO f*****g REMEMBER THAT!” Adonis asserted.

“I know who you are.” Ryder said in a low tone. “But it’d do you some good if you’d remember that my mate and I are free to do whatever the hell we want to do.”

Ok… he is definitely taunting Adonis.

Adonis’ eyes grew even darker, and I could see his hands starting to change into claws.

I don’t know how, but I could hear his breathing from way back here. His breathing became harsher, and I knew that could only mean that his wolf was about to show himself.

“WOAH! WHAT ARE Y’ALL DOING? WHAT IS GOING ON IN HERE?!”

Blaze! Thank God!

“YOUR BETA FORGOT HIS PLACE!” Adonis yelled. “I’m about to help him remember it though.”

The next thing I knew, Adonis c****d back his fist and swung it forward to hit Ryder in his face, but Ryder ducked just in time and elbowed Adonis in his side. Adonis let out a small growl and within seconds they were tousling in front of me, in my room.

“OH, MY WORD!!!! WHAT IN GODDESSESS NAME IS GOING ON IN HERE?” Ms. Janine asked from the doorway. “YOU BOYS KNOW BETTER THAN TO DO THIS!”

Neither one of them listened as they continued to throw punches and kicks at each other.

I was in such disbelief by everything that was going on that I hadn’t realized that I was crying, hard. I didn’t want either one of them to get hurt and since Adonis was an Alpha that meant he was stronger… right? I didn’t want him to kill Ryder.

“STOP IT ADONIS!” I begged. “It was only a kiss. Don’t do this!”

I don’t even know if he could hear me through all of the ruckus that they were making, but I do know that he wasn’t stopping.

I could hear the blows that they were unleashing on each other and it made my stomach turn.

“Blaze! PLEASE, STOP THEM!” I yelled.

Blaze looked at the chaos that was happening in front of him, but he didn’t move.

“BLAZE! PLEASE!” I begged.

That’s when a group of very fit men ran into the room and caught the site of the two fighting fools in front of me.

Blaze said something to them that I couldn’t hear, and it made the men jump in and separate my two mates.

“SURRENDER TO ME!” Adonis bellowed.

Ryder just stared at him with eyes filled with rage.

“APOLOGIZE TO ME NOW AND I MAY CONSIDER LETTING YOU STAY IN MY PACK AND AS MY BETA!” Adonis said in way that sounded too much like a threat.

“Beta Ryder, please apologize to him. We need the both of you to run this pack.” Ms. Janine implored. Ryder only stood there with the same menacing look on his face, not budging at all.

Adonis was livid. I could sense it and see it written all over his face. I felt like this was all my fault and if I hadn’t come here, they wouldn’t be at each other’s throats.

I ran towards them and put my body between them before I could even notice that Adonis had c****d back his fist again and was aiming for Ryder. Although he still missed Ryder, he didn’t miss me.

His hard fist hit me in the back of my head, and then…everything went black.
