I finally muttered, the courage to break the silence as we walked to the gate? "Do you miss her?"
"Who?" she turned to me with raised eyebrows.
"Na-Na."
"How do you know her name?" The shock in her eyes gave her away.
I chuckled, "You probably paid me no attention the last time. Nana, wasn't just your grandmother, she was my godmother too." She remained silent as if processing all that I had just said, so I took my chance to continue.
"You might be wondering how she managed to keep you in the dark all along? I'd tell you. She didn't want you to grow up knowing you had so many responsibilities. All she wanted for you, was to have a normal childhood."
I turned to face Aria. "That's why I was assigned to keep you safe. If nana were here, what questions would you ask her?"
