It’s Tuesday morning and I’m lying in bed looking at the dark clouds outside. ‘I hate going to school on a rainy day.’ I said to myself and forced myself to get out of bed.

When Jessy came over last night she broke down and cried, and cried until she had no tears left to cry. I tried comforting her as much as I can, but she still wouldn’t tell me anything. When I ask what is wrong she would start talking about how much she missed me when I was gone and she keeps bringing up childhood memories.

At the end of her rambling I was confused. “why do we have to meet at Andy’s gym?” I asked and all she said was, “I want to show you something.

And she expects me to be happy with that answer?

I took a shower and got dressed in simple black jeans and a white hoody with some black and white sneakers. I tied my hair in a ponytail and didn’t put any make-up.

I went downstairs and got something to eat. I couldn’t decide what I wanted so I just settled for some coco pops and cold milk ‘obviously’

I waited for my mom to come down stairs. When she did I almost chocked on my cereal.

“mom, what is the special occasion?” I asked as I stare at her. she is dressed in in a white suit that looks like it was made just for her with her hair up and make-up to kill.

“I have a meeting today about a higher position in the company and if I get the job I won’t be traveling so much.” My mother said and I remember her telling me but I didn’t think she was serious because she loves ravelling.

“well mom you look amazing.” I said and gave her a big smile.

“thank you.” She said and kissed the top of my head.

“mom, is it okay if I go out tonight?” I asked hoping she would say yes.

“it’s ganna rain I don’t want you driving around all night.” She said with a stern look on her face.

“I won’t. I’m just going to Andy’s gym and then I’m coming home.” I said and she nodded her head. I gave her a big smile wished her luck and left the house.

I have decided I would go to school a bit early every morning since the best parking’s aren’t yet taken. The drive to school felt somewhat longer today than any other day, and I don’t know why I can’t just walk because school is like a 20 minute walk from my house but my mom insists on me not walking that is why she bought me a car.

When I got to school I saw Andy’s car in the parking lot, but I didn’t see him outside. He didn’t tell me he’s coming to school early.

I parked my car next to his and got out. I walked into the school and found him leaning against his locker talking on the phone. I didn’t even have a chance to hear who he was talking to because when he saw me he hung up. ‘I narrowed my eyes and walked closer to him. “you are here early.” I said and kissed his lips.

“I had to get out of the house.” He said and his expression changed to a mixture of anger and sadness.

“you and Jessy still fighting?” I asked with a sigh.

“yes, and no. she stopped talking to completely she is just acting like I don’t exist.” Andy said and I could see it’s eating at him. “what did you do to make her so angry at you?” I asked and for a second I saw his eyes go wide. He looked at me and said, “I don’t know.” For some reason I know he is lying, but I don’t press on. Jessy told me not to tell him about tonight because we want to surprise him.

When Jessy got to school she wore sunglasses. I tried taking them off and she said is “don’t you dare.” I let my hands fall to my sides and said, “well then you take them off.” I waited and she finally gave up taking it off. Her eyes are puffy and red, “have you been crying all night?” I asked with concern.

“it doesn’t matter because I am done crying, I don’t even have tears left to cry.” Jessy said and shrugged her shoulders.

I was still talking to her when I heard whispers going around and literally every girl in the hallway was staring in one direction even Jessy.

I turned around and locked eyes with Brody and he was already smiling in my direction. He looks even better today dressed in skinny black jeans with a white buttoned down shirt and his hair looks messy and it suites him.

I walked up to him and before I could stretch my hand out he pulled me into a hug and I almost melted.

“well good morning to you too.” I said and heard him chuckle.

“good morning Anna.” He said and smiled down at me. I looked to his left and right and saw two new faces.

“oh yes, this is my best friends Dwane and Blane.” He pointed to them and I gasped at how good looking they are. ‘did they fall out of heaven and did it hurt?’ I wondered.

“well it’s nice to meet you all, now let me introduce you to my friend.” I said calling Jessy over and Andy. “this is Jessy and her brother Andy my boyfriend.” I said and they all shook hands. Andy looked at me and narrowed his eyes.

I looked around and saw literally every girl looking at me with hatred and jealousy.

“what classes do you have?” I asked Brody and he handed me his schedule. I looked it over and said, “well you have all the classes I do.”

He looked at me and smiled. I looked at Andy and he asked, “how do you know each other?” and it came out more like a hidden accusation than a question.

“we met when Anna came to the river at the edge of the town. She was alone so I thought I could keep her company and when I tried to she got up and left.” Brody said with a look on his face I couldn’t quite make out.

“yes well I didn’t think you were serious about coming to this school.” I said looking at Andy.

Andy looked at me with narrowed eyes. I looked at him and said, “I will not go through this with you again today.” And I walked off leaving all of them very confused and I didn’t care. Andy is getting on my nerves because he is hiding something and he is lying and the same thing with Jessy.

I walked to my locker and got my books and walked off to class. Half way there I was stopped with Brody walking beside me.

“you okay?” he asked looking down at me.

I sigh and just said, “having friends who is guy’s is a crime and I don’t feel like being accused today so no, I am not fine.” I said looking at Brody’s amused smile.

“what are you smiling about?” I asked.

“well yesterday I thought you were crazy and today I think you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.” Brody said and I had to look away because of the blush creeping in on me.

“thanks.” I said not daring to look at him.

It was so easy talking to Brody and I found myself telling him everything, he even asked me about Andy and I told him what happened and that I have a feeling he is hiding something and Brody never said anything bad he just listened my rambling.

The day went by fast and when the last bell rang everyone ran out of the classroom except for me. I told Jessy to come and find me here. I looked up and saw Brody making his way over to my table and sat down. he gave a loud sigh and let his head fall on his arms.

“these girls will drive me to murder.” He said and gave me a sideway glance.

I laughed at him and said, “well they only just started.”

I saw Jessy walking into the class falling on the chair in front of us and said, “I hope your day was more fun.”

I looked at her waiting for her to explain. “I’m in two classes with Dominique and all she can talk about is how hot the news guys are and she will definitely end up with one of them if not all three.” Jessy said and made a gagging sound.

I looked at Brody and laughed at his expression. His face was scrunched up in disgust and he said, “I will rather be found making out with a cactus.”

Jessy burst out laughing and got up from the chair. “let’s go I need food.” She said and I agreed. I invited Brody and he asked if Dwane and Blane can come too. “sure why not?”

Jessy looked at me and said, “I’ll make you a bet and if I win I’ll pay for everyone’s lunch and if I lose I will eat whatever you order me.” I looked at her and stopped to listen.

“I’m listening. “ I said and waited.

“I bet you Andy will have some excuse as not to go when he hears Brody and he’s friends are invited.” Jessy said and held out her hand. I looked at her hand and shook it. “okay deal.”

I looked at Brody and he was just smiling. He put his one arm around my shoulder and the other around Jessy’s and we walked out of school.

When we got outside everyone was staring at us and Dominique glared at me with anger.

We spotted Andy close to his car and when he heard us laughing he turned around and to look. I stepped away from Jessy and Brody and walked over to kiss Andy. “we are going out for lunch wanna join?” I asked blinking my eyes at him. I really want to order for Jessy.

“who is we?” he asked crossing his arms over his chest.

“me, Jessy, Brody, Dwane, Blane, and hopefully you.” I said looking at him.

He looked over my shoulder for a second and then said, “sorry I can’t I have a project that needs to be done tomorrow.” I looked at him and I felt like punching him.

“okay, let me know when you have time for me Andy.” I said and walked away.

“Anna wait.” Andy said and I just kept walking. i tried fighting back the tears but failed as one slipped down my cheek.

Brody put his arm around my shoulder giving it a reassuring squeeze. “you okay?” he asked and I didn’t trust my voice so I just nodded my head.

At the restaurant we all ordered burgers and fries, but my appetite died along with my heart a few minutes ago. “I don’t think I can do this for much longer.” I said and looked at Jessy.

She gave me sad smile and said, “we still have one more thing to do.”

I nodded my head and looked at Brody. He smirked at me and threw me with a fry.

I picked it up and put it in my mouth watching as his eyes darken and I swear it changed colour, but when I looked again it was gone.

I smiled at him and ate my food. His eyes never left me. he just kept staring at me.

Jessy paid for our food and we left the diner and said goodbye and made our way back to our cars except for Brody. he walked with me to my car and even opened the door for me.

“goodbye Anna.” He said and walked off to his shiny black BMW.

On my way home it started pouring and I could barely see the road and when I saw the time it was already half past five. I didn’t even realize it was so late. we were having so much fun at the diner that we didn’t even bother about the checking the time.

I parked my car and ran up to the house. i opened the door and screamed when someone said, “had a nice time?” I turned around with my hand on my heart, breathing heavily and came face to face with Andy. “what are you doing here?” I asked shrugging out of my jacket.

Andy looked at me and narrowed his eyes. “how do you miss your mouth so bad that there is catch-up on your shoulder?” he asked. I looked at my shoulder and said, “I didn’t Brody threw me with a fry, I just didn’t know it stained my shirt.” I said and walked off to my room.

“why didn’t you tell me about him?” Andy asked making me stop.

“there is nothing to tell Andy I literally just met him yesterday. and is this how it’s ganna be with you that I can’t even have guy friends?” I asked looking at him void of any expression on my face and the only emotion I have is anger.

“I have to get ready I’m going out with Jessy.” I said and walked off not even waiting for him to reply.

I heard the front door slam and let out a sigh.

By the time I was done it was half past six and Andy’s gym is only ten minutes away. I waited downstairs for Jessy and when she barged in she was soaking wet. “you ready?” she asked with a sad expression.

I followed her out and jumped into my car the whole ride over was quiet and I didn’t feel like talking.

When we got to the gym I noticed two cars there and one of them is Andy’s. I looked at Jessy and asked, what is going on?” she got out of the car and walked over to my side.

And said, “I can’t keep doing this Anna, you are my best friend and I know I might lose you, but you deserve to know the truth.” I looked at her and at the cars.

I left Jessy and walked over to the entrance, looking back at the two cars I recognize the other one as Dominique’s mother’s blue Audi.

The whole world stopped and everything happened in slow motion. I walked over to the door, opened it and walked in. as I walk down the dark hallway I can hear talking and teasing in gentle tones. I don’t even know how I’m walking with a numb body. I am supposed to fall or trip or something.

As I walked into the gym my heart shattered like glass breaking into a million pieces.

Right in front of me is a half-naked Dominique and Andy busy taking off his belt.

I look at the two of them and everything made sense, he’s been cheating on me with the same girl he doesn’t even like.

Andy looked up and the colour drained from his face and he froze.

I turned around and made my way back to my car with the broken pieces that’s left of my heart.

When I stepped into the rain I dint know what to do or where to go.

“Anna please let me explain.” I heard Andy say from behind me. I turned around slowly looking at him, but not really seeing him. “you don’t have to, because nothing you say can fix what broke in me.” I said and the tears started streaming down my face.

I saw Jessy still standing next to my car soaking wet and I fell into her arms and sobbed my heart out, what is left of it anyway.
