The Idle Prince
I sat on my throne bored as usual. I sighed deeply as I watched the pool of blood in front of me. Images of various humans doing mundane tasks appeared. I hear the scratching of claws on stone and turned to see who dares to disturb me.
“Sire you have souls waiting for torture.” Said a lesser demon with a high pitched whiney voice. I sigh again.
“Not now. I’m busy. It’s hell the wait for me is t*****e enough.” Then all of a sudden a woman showed up in the images. Her dark hair framed her small face. She had an air of innocence to her. I stood up and got closer to study her. Her eyes were a brilliant shade of green. I wanted her. No I needed her. I must be the one to corrupt her innocence.
“Push back all my meetings. I’m going to the mortal realm.” He looked at me confused.
“But…but sire your father will be displeased.” He sounded frightened. I smiled.
“Good makes this trip even better. Make sure you tell him I’ll be back when I feel like it.” I know my father will lash out at the poor demon that tells him I’m gone but that’s not really my problem. I open a portal to the human world.

Vivian
The air was so cold the tip of my nose started to hurt. I pulled the scarf up over my face to try to warm up. I just need to make it to this publishers office so I can show them my book. I’m sure this time I’ll get accepted. I tried to stay positive. I entered the building and tried to fix my wind blown hair. The lady at the front desk looked me up and down.
“Do you have an appointment?”
“Uh yes I’m Vivian Praxley,” she typed on her computer.
“Oh yes he will see you now. Go through that door there.” She gestured to the door. I can feel the nerves well up inside. I nod and go through into the office. My palms sweating. A large man was sitting at his desk looking over a couple manuscripts. He lifts his gaze to me.
“Miss Praxley? Have a seat.” His vice president as gruff. I took my seat and patiently waited for him to speak.
“I read you first draft. The bones are there but the more steamy parts seem… bland. You write a romance but I’m not really feeling these s*x scenes. It’s almost as if you are inexperienced. The readers are not going to find any of this believable.” My heart sunk.
“Sir, I can rewrite it…”
“You have 1 month to get me a new draft.” He interrupted me. I take a deep breath.
“I can do that.” I said softly. He waves me out. I walk quickly past the front desk and back out into the frigid cold.
I made my way to a nearby coffee shop and pulled out my laptop. The sooner I get this done the better. I stared at the blank screen. How in the hell am I supposed to write believable s*x scenes when I’ve never even had s*x. I was so lost in my own self pity I didn’t notice the man sit at my table till he closed my laptop. I jumped and looked at him.
“Excuse you!” I started to scold him but I noticed his chiseled jaw and dark brooding eyes. His black hair was down to his shoulders. He smiled at me mischievously. This man was gorgeous to look at.
“Calm down sweetheart I’m here to help.” His voice was so deep I could feel my words getting stuck in my throat.
“Help me with what?” I asked and his smile widened.
“Your book of course.”
“How did you know about my book?” Is he a stalker? He laughs then leans in close.
“Because I’m a demon. I can make all your dreams come true…for a price.” I laugh nervously. Oh great a crazy man.
“Sure you are.” He pulls out a piece of paper and sets it on the table.
“If you don’t believe me then you have nothing to lose by signing this.” I glance at the paper.
“What is it?” I asked.
“A contract binding me to you to make all your dreams come true.” He has got to be kidding me. His eyes flickered with anticipation watching me. Maybe if I play along he will leave. I pick up a pen.
“I’ll be a better writer?” He nods and I signed. The paper suddenly vanished.
“We better get started right away don’t you think?” He said excitedly.
“Uh no how about tomorrow?” I need to get away from this lunatic.
“Fine tomorrow. I’ll come find you.” He said and I quickly put my laptop away and rushed out of there. The whole walk home I kept looking over my shoulder to make sure he wasn’t following me. I went upstairs to my apartment and bolted the door. My hands were shaking. That was the weirdest encounter I’ve ever had. I showered and got ready for bed. Maybe some sleep would help me feel better. I passed out. All night I had vivid dreams of the man from the coffee shop. But in my dreams he had large horns and was shirtless. He was kissing on my body. It felt so real. I woke up drenched in sweat. I stripped my sheets from my bed and threw them in the wash. The images played over and over in my head and I shuddered. It’s ok I’ll never see him again. There was a knock at the door. Who could be here this early? I opened the door and there he was standing in my doorway smiling at me. I felt my face heat up.
“How… did you follow me home?! I’ll call the cops!” I know I’m making a scene but what if he is a crazy axe murderer or something? He steps into my apartment and closes the door.
“Shhhh you are too loud. Your night gown though looks great on you.” He looked at me like he was hungry and grabbed a blanket off my couch and cover up.
“Why are you here?”
“You said we are starting today. Now we can just skip to the fun bits or we can take it slow and the boring stuff like the romance crap. Your choice. You are from now on my master.” He sat down on the couch as he talked.
“I’m in charge? Then I say leave.” I pointed to the door.
“That I can’t do. We are bound together until your dream comes true.” He pats his lap.
“Come sit and I’ll explain” I shake my head and he tilts his.
“Did you tell me no?” He asked his voice stern.
“I uh” I was scared so I obeyed and sat in his lap. He smiles again.
“That’s a good girl.” He puts his face in my neck and inhales.
“I thought I was the master…”
“Only for the purposes of the contract.” He strokes my hair. I want to run but part of me is intrigued.
“Explain the contract.”
“Hmmm. Well you can’t get rid of me until your book is published. You need help writing a romance. So I guess I’ll romance you.” It takes me a minute to process what he was saying.
“Does that mean we are dating?” I blurted out. He strokes my bottom lip with his thumb.
“Oh yes sweetheart.” I feel all tingly everywhere.
“That’s not what I agreed too… I just want to get published.” He laughs again.
“You should have read the fine print.” He strokes my hair. I try to swallow but it get caught in my throat.
“You seem nervous why don’t we go to breakfast.” He continued. I just nod.
“Go put something nice on.” He pushes me off his lap. I go in my room and close the door. As soon as I’m out of sight I start to panic. I should call the cops. I fumble around searching for my phone. He knocks on my door.
“Hurry up Im starving.” He complains. I grab my phone and dial 911. The dispatch woman answers.
“Hello what is your emergency?”
“Yes there is a crazy man in my apartment who won’t leave. Im scared I locked myself in my room.” His knocking gets louder.
“Vivian don’t do this. Open the damn door!” I start sobbing.
“Please send someone.” I plead.
“What is your address?” She asked but before I could answer my door is ripped right off the hinges. He is suddenly right in front of me and he grabs my phone and crushes it to pieces in his hand.
“That was rude…never again. Do you understand me?” He looked at me and his eyes were glowing red.
“I’m, I’m sorry.” I don’t know what to do. He moves to my closet and grabs a dress and tosses it at me.
“Get dressed we are going out.” My hands were shaking as I changed my clothes. He watched the whole time.
“Let’s go I’m ready to eat.” He grabs me by my arm and takes me out of the apartment.

Ash
So infuriating this woman tried to get rid of me. I kept a grip on her arm as I lead her through the streets. I was doing her a favor. I didn’t even ask for her soul. Ungrateful human. I can feel her shaking in fear. We get to a little restaurant and I make sure we get the best seating. I even pulled her chair out for her like a proper gentleman. I sat across from her and watch her. She was looking around for an escape.
“Why are you so desperate to get away from me?” I asked.
“Because you need help. You are delusional.”
“Delusional? I think you just need to learn to accept the truth. I am what I say I am.” I’m so annoyed.
“Then prove it.” She sounded a little more confident just now.
“Fine I will.” I’m ready to get past this. I looked around and then pointed to a waiter.
“I can make him do whatever I want. Cluck like a chicken moo like a cow. I’ll let you pick.”
“Uhhhh make him do pushups.” She watches the waiter expecting me to fail. I smirk and wave my hand and the waiter drops to the floor and starts doing push-ups. Her jaw drops.
“Boring… I should make him stab the lady in ho brought her dog with her.” I said and she grabs my wrist.
“Please don’t… I believe you. Just don’t hurt anyone.” She begged.
“Fine I won’t but you must start enjoying this date. Order food and smile.” She gives me a weak fake smile.
“Will you answer some questions?” She asked and I shrug.
“Like what?” I inquired.
“Like what is your name. You never told me.”
“It’s Ash”
“Ok and why me?” I study her face watching for a reaction.
“Because you are sweet and innocent. All things I am not. I find you interesting. I’m just trying to pass the time.” I feel honesty would be the best approach here. She seemed disappointed.
“So it’s because you’re bored?”
“Yeah? Why else? Oh didn’t you think you were special?” I laugh. Humans so desperate to be different, to be special. She looks down.
“I kind of hoped…” another waiter walks up to take our order. I just order omelettes for the both of us and he walks away.
“Consider yourself lucky that I chose you. I am a gift start acting like it.”
“Ok…”
“Have anymore questions?”
“Not at the moment” we sat in silence till the food came then we ate in awkward silence before I took her back home.
