Hades pov. "Are you going to do anything other than sit here and drink?" Rage, my VP asked, sitting next to me. "Nothing better to do" I replied, watching my brothers, a few have old ladies and kids and at family events and family BBQ's. "Walk around, talk and drink with your family, Hades, that is why we all get together like this. "I've already done that. Now I'm sitting and watching" I say. "Watching for whom?" He mumbles as three teenagers run past us with water guns. "No one in particular" I say, but we both know it's a lie as look over everyone to see if she has turned up in the last few minutes since I last looked. "Yeah right. You have been watching for Aspen since everyone started arriving" He laughed. "Shut the f**k up Rage" I say just as my niece Lilly walks through the back doors. "Looks like your woman has finally arrived," Rage says. "She ain't my woman" I grit out because a woman like Aspen wouldn't want a man like me. EX Marine, now a biker criminal, mid-forties with a scar running from my right eyebrow to my jawline. Add all that in to my controlling and dominant ways, there is no way I could have a woman like her. She is nineteen years old, raising her 4-year-old niece after her sister walked out on them a year ago. After that, Aspen moved here to Mountain Creek with Mia, her niece. Aspen has been to the clubhouse a few times, but Mia has never been around us bikers. From what Lilly has told us, it has nothing to do with who or what we are. It's the fact Mia's mum treated her like s**t and so did the s**t load of men she would bring around Mia. "Lilly" Rage called as she was walking past us. "Hi Uncle Hades, Uncle Rage" she said, giving us both a kiss on the cheek and a hug. Lilly calls all my MC brothers Uncle as they all helped raise her when her dad, my brother, died the day she was born. "How are you sweetheart?" I asked before I started thinking about my brother. The man was a piece of s**t and right now I don't want to think about him. "I'm good and finally got a few days off work" she replied. Lilly works at one of the restaurants in town, and they take the piss with her hours. I offered to go and have a word, but she told me not to, but if it carries on I will. "About damn time," Rage says. "Yup, 6 days to do whatever I want," Lilly says, sitting back in her chair and closing her eyes. "It's unlike you to be without your sidekick," Rage says, resulting in a dirty look from me. "Oh, she will be here soon, and she is bringing Mia," Lilly says. "Really?" I asked, not thinking. "I mean she's bringing Mia?" I asked, trying to cover up the fact I sounded happy she was coming. "Yeah, Aspen thinks it's time to introduce you guys to Mia as Aspen is around us a lot. Mia is still shy and weary around men, but Aspen thinks if Mia sees the way all the brothers are around other kids it will help her. She doesn't want Mia to be scared of men, as not all men are like the fuckers her mum brought around her," Lilly says, and I can see the logic in what Aspen is thinking plus none of my brothers would ever even think about hurting a child or woman. They know I will kill them, no second chance. "I can understand that" I say, and I honestly can, because I would never have even thought of not having Lilly around my brothers. They are family just as much as Lilly, Blood or not, we are all family. Aspen fits in with us all and everyone loves her, so her finally bringing Mia to meet us for me is a good thing. "Finally, she is here. I'm going to go give her a hand with Mia as she has brought some food with her too," Lilly said, standing up and walking away. "What are you smirking about?" I ask Rage, who has a s**t eating smirk on his face. "You're good with kids. Mia will love you, then you can finally claim Aspen as your old lady," he said. "Never going to happen" I say, and before I can stop myself, my fingers run over my scar. "Axel, man seriously, not all women have a problem with your scar. In fact, for a lot of women it's a turn on. Aspen has never looked at you with disgust. She has always treated you like everyone else," he says, using my birth name, and I swing my head around to look at him. No one ever uses my birth name other than my mum and only when I'm in the s**t so Rage using it pisses me off. I go by Hades or Prez and he knows it. "I use that name, so I know you are listening. Give her a chance, Prez, everyone here knows she is yours even you do," he says, holding his hand up to stop me from talking. "Lie to yourself all you want, but we all know. We all also see the way Aspen looks at you when she thinks no one is watching. You and her are going to happen. How long that takes is up to you and her. We all like her and she is already family. You just need to get over whatever is holding you back and get what is yours," he adds, and before I can say anything, Lilly returns holding a little blonde girl on her hip while her head is buried in Lilly's shoulder. "Where's Aspen" Rage asks as Lilly sits down. "Getting the food out of the car that woman must have been cooking for hours and has made a s**t load" She says. "Mia, this is my Uncle Hades and Uncle Rage. Would you like to say hello?" Lilly asks the little girl in a very soft tone. Mia slightly turns her head, and I'm met with striking blue eyes, blue eyes that are identical to Aspens. "Hi" Mia said in a shaky voice. "Hi princess Mia, I'm Hades and this is Rage" I say in a soft voice as I can see she is definitely shy. "I know Mummy has pictures," she whispers, resting her body against Lilly. "Aspen has been showing pictures of everyone, hoping it will help Mia feel comfortable already knowing who everyone is," Lilly whispered as Mia took quick glances around, taking everything in. "I'll go and give your woman a hand with the food, knowing our brothers will be trying to eat everything before it gets put on the tables," Rage says, standing up and walking away before I could say anything. "Your woman?" Lilly asked, yet I didn't reply. "I'm going to get a drink," I say, really not wanting to get into another conversation about Aspen. "No I'll get them. If you go you wont come back" Lilly says before whispering something to Mia. The next thing I know, Mia is sitting on my lap and looking right into my eyes. "Hi princess" I said, smiling at her, because I never would have thought a little girl who is scared of men would sit on my lap looking at me with no fear. "You got the same as mummy," Mia said, raising her hand and running her fingers down my scar. "Holy s**t" Lilly gasps.
