Episode 1:One Night, Five Years Ago
The penthouse suite smelled like whiskey and trouble.
Maya Okafor gripped her wine glass so hard she was surprised it didn’t shatter. Around her, Lagos elite laughed and clinked glasses, celebrating Kamsi Holdings’ IPO launch. She was here as a plus-one for her friend Tolu. She didn’t belong here.
“Stop hiding in the corner,” Tolu hissed, dragging her toward the bar. “You’re beautiful, you’re single, and the CEO of Adebayo Holdings is in this room. Go mingle.”
Maya rolled her eyes. “Tolu, I’m a kindergarten teacher. I don’t mingle with billionaires.”
“Exactly. It’ll be fun.”
Fun turned into a disaster when she spilled red wine on a man’s $3,000 suit.
“I’m so sorry!” she stammered, grabbing napkins.
“Stop,” his voice was low, calm, but it sent a shiver down her spine. “It’s just fabric.”
She looked up.
Tall. Dark suit. Cold eyes that softened for half a second when they met hers.
Damien Adeola. CEO of Adebayo Holdings. The man every woman in Lagos wanted and no one could have.
“You’re clumsy,” he said, not unkindly.
“You’re rude,” she shot back.
His lips twitched.
“I like you.”
Before she could respond, Tolu appeared, eyes wide. “Maya! Don’t you know who this is?”
“I know,” Maya muttered. “Unfortunately.”
Damien’s gaze didn’t leave her. “Stay for a drink?”
“I should go.”
“One drink.”
She should have said no.
She didn’t.
---
One drink became three.
Three became him walking her out to the balcony to escape the noise.
The city lights stretched below them, Lagos alive at 2am.
“You’re not like them,” Damien said, leaning against the railing.
“And you’re not as cold as you pretend to be,” Maya replied.
Silence.
Then he stepped closer.
“Maya.” Her name on his lips felt dangerous.
“Don’t,” she whispered.
But she didn’t move away.
One kiss.
Then another.
Then the night spiraled into something she never planned for.
---
Morning came too fast.
Maya woke up in his bed, alone, with a note on the pillow:
> _Last night was a mistake. Don’t call me.
> — D_
Her chest tightened.
A mistake. Right.
She got dressed in silence, left the penthouse, and never looked back.
Two months later, she found out she was pregnant.

Present Day – Five Years Later
“Ms. Okafor, you’re late.”
Maya froze in the doorway of Adebayo Holdings’ 45th floor office.
Her new boss stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, back turned, voice like ice.
“Traffic on Lekki,” she said quickly, setting her bag down. “I’m sorry, Mr. Adeola. It won’t happen again.”
Mr. Adeola turned around.
Her blood ran cold.
Damien.
Older. Sharper. More dangerous than she remembered.
His eyes narrowed as he looked at her.
He didn’t recognize her.
“Your file says you have 5 years of PA experience,” he said. “Prove it.”
Maya swallowed.
He didn’t know.
He had no idea that the little boy she picked up from school every day had his eyes.
“Understood, sir,” she said, keeping her voice steady.
“Let’s see if you can handle day one.”
Damien walked past her, close enough that she caught his cologne.
The same one from five years ago.
“Don’t mess this up, Ms. Okafor,” he said without looking back.
“I won’t, Mr. Adeola,” she replied.
Because if he found out about her son…
Everything would fall apart.
