----Revelation---- ***??? POV*** Seeing her again, the memories came flooding back. The little girl that came running over to see me with a nest of auburn curls. How her bright sapphire eyes twinkled with happiness as we played. I had almost forgotten these memories as I thought I'd never see her again. Closing my eyes, a memory flooded back to me. "Blaze!!! I'm back from school!" The little mess of curls came running up to me. I wasn't allowed to go to the regular school since I've been training to become the new elder ever since I could walk. Her eyes sparkled which always brought a smile to my face. "Lanie! Look what I did today!" My small child-like hands moved away from my body, turning blue for a moment before an ice sculpture of a bird formed in my hands. "Woah! That's so cool! We just did macaroni art." She huffed, her cheeks puffing out as she crossed her arms over her chest. Looking at the girl in front of me in my memory, she must have been not much older than four years old. There was a connection to her that I couldn't describe but I wanted to spend all of my time with her. That was one of the many memories that I had with her. She was my best friend. She was my only friend. No one wanted to hang around me because I was the elder's son. Their parents feared that if their child hurt me, that the wrath of my father would come down upon them. Lanie was different. She had no fear. She was strong and confident even as a child. She was radiant inside and now seeing her as an adult, she was beautiful outside too. I remember the day that Lanie didn't come to play. My heart trembled as my immediate thought was that she turned out like all of the rest… afraid to be near me because of my father. The look on the guard's face as he rushed in to a lesson my father and I were having. The panic in his eyes haunts my memories to this day. "Sir! Sir! Marina and Lanie Lockhearte are gone! I think they may have ran away!" He tried to catch his breath. It looked like he had ran all over the town first before coming here. "What?! GO FIND THEM!" The veins bulged out of my father's neck as his face turned red. I had seen him angry but this was even worse. Why was he so angry over this? Was it just the defiance or was it something deeper? No one ran away from the guild and lived to tell the story… until Lanie and her mother did. I still have no idea how they did it. I didn't blame them either. I felt like running from this life many times. My father ruled with an iron fist and his words were law. No one dared to challenge him and the people who did were usually used as public displays of his power. He tried to teach me that fear was the best tactic to rule. I had never agreed with his methods but followed along because I wanted to take over the guild and set things right. One time, my mother disagreed with his tactics so he tied her to a stake in the middle of the guild grounds and left her there for three days as a stark reminder that no one was above him. My mother ended her life shortly after that. She begged me to not rule like my father when I took the title of the guild elder before she did. Ever since I had lost Lanie and my mother, I didn't let anyone in. My ice powers mirrored the icey cage that had formed around my heart, not wanting to let another person in. The woman I saw trying to steal a flower… I wanted to win her heart. I've loved her ever since we were little. I just wished I had more power within the guild to break off the forced marriage and just win her naturally. She deserved that. She deserved the world. I wanted to be the man to give that to her. The sounds of a creaking door snapped me out of my thoughts as I saw my father come in. "Soon, you will have the most beautiful bride." My father smiled gently while I simply nodded. My eyes looked distant. "What's wrong, son?" Worry creased his eyebrows. He came over and placed a hand on my shoulder to try to comfort me. "I just wish I could have won Lanie's heart naturally and not through an arranged marriage." I admitted to him, a look of guilt in my eyes. I just wanted to show her how I felt versus how it's happening now. She is surely going to hate me. "I know, son, but she already had a boyfriend coming here. I had no choice but to strike fear in her to give you her hand in marriage." The thought of her having a boyfriend shot a few zaps of pain to my chest. Were they intimate? The question made my heart hurt worse. I shook my head in a failed attempt to not dwell on the thoughts. A slender man came in to the room and bowed. "My esteemed elder and my lord, I come bearing news. Lanie has returned home and Marina is cured. I also found out something about Lanie's boyfriend…" the spy trailed off. A sick smile twisted on to the spy's face. "Well, what is it?! Spit it out!" The elder grew impatient while my heart seized beating in anticipation for the news. "He's a werewolf, sir." "HE'S A WHAT?!" I was stunned. Lanie was dating a werewolf? Every single witch knew it was taboo and forbidden. It was an infraction that almost always resulted in death for at least both parties involved. I dreaded hearing my father speak, anticipating him to order the kills. Goosebumps covered my body as I heard him begin to speak. "Oh, what a little dilemma we have here." The tone of his voice made all of my muscles tense at once. It was calculating… it was pure evil.
