CHAPTER TWO

Your true happiness lies within you.

    I woke up by 6:30 today. Mom and dad had to leave early for needed a ride today. I immediately replied with a no. I went to the bathroom, had my bath and began to look for what to wear.

         “wear something nice today,” the voice in my head said. I agreed with the voice because I felt something is going to happen today. The dream I had today and the uneasiness I felt made me agree even more. I opened my wardrobe and chose a gray long-sleeved crop top with a wolf picture on it and Ariana written beneath it, I also chose black ripped shorts and black converse. I wore a silver loop earring, a long silver belly ring and my pink lip-gloss. I let my long black curly hair flow freely on my back. I picked up my bag and phone, went to the kitchen, grabbed granola and ran out of the house, locking the door behind me.

         As I dove into the school, I suddenly felt nervous. I got out of my BMW and immediately my friends came to me. I hugged them and gave Derik a tighter hug since he is my new best friend and he gave me a peck. I felt someone staring at me but when I turned around no one was staring. I went into the school building with my friends. As I walked towards my locker, I felt the stare again, and once again when I turned around, no one was staring.

         “Are you okay, Ari?”, Avery asked

         “Yeah, I’m fine”, I replied.

         Derik came from behind, held my waist and said, “You look like something is bothering you”

         I smiled and confessed, “I feel like someone is staring at me but whenever I turn around, no one is actually staring”.

         Jake came up to me and said, “You are just stressed. You are new here and people will be staring at you. Don’t worry about it too much”

         I smiled and hugged them giving Derik a peck. Again I felt the stare but I decided not to look back believing my imagination was playing a prank on me. The bell rang and we all went over to our classes.

         “I just love lunch period”, Amina said as she gave a girlish grin.

         I laughed and shook my head as I grabbed her hand and Avery’s hand, dragging them into the cafeteria. As I entered, a strong smell hit me. It smelt like lavender and vanilla. I looked around looking for who sprayed that.

         “Can you guys smell that?”, I asked them

         “What smell?”, they asked looking confused

         “Never mind. I thought I smelt lavender and vanilla. I guess I was just imaging the smell.” I said I we walked over to our table where Derik and the guys were already sitting. As I sat down beside Derik, Avery said, “They are around”.

         “Who?”, I asked as I gave Derik a peck.

         “Wolf and his gang”, they all replied.

         I looked up from my food and gave them a questioning look. Amina used her head to indicate where they were. The moment I turned my head, I met the stare of the cutest guy among them. I immediately looked away feeling intimidated.

         “That’s Demitrey”, Derik whispered beside me. I understood he was talking about the guy whose stare I met.

         “The guy with the similar jet black hair as Demitrey is Ethan, his cousin. Catherine is the redhead, Bella is the blondie, Erik is also the blondie and finally, Benny is the guy with the similar blackish hair as yours.” Amina whispered.

         “Why exactly are we whispering?” I asked as I whispered back.

         Jack responded, “They have this super hearing ability”.

         Derik wrapped his arm around my waist and I thought I heard a low growl. I turned and met the eyes of Demitrey again. I immediately looked away and leaned in on Derik. Derik sensed my tension and planted a kiss on my forehead.

         “It’s okay baby girl. They won’t hurt you as long as you stay away from them.” He said. I smiled and leaned up to peck him. The moment I pecked him, I felt an angry and jealous stare burning a hole in my back, but this time, I didn’t turn to know who was staring at me. We finished our lunch and headed to our class.

         “Just one more period and I will be on my bed”, I squeaked as I took my book from my locker. Derik and the rest laughed. I turned around and gave them a childish grin and hugged Derik. I was about to give him a peck when I heard someone cough from behind me. I turned around and saw two beautiful girls giving me a warm smile. I sensed my friends tense up.

         “Hey, I’m Catherine”, the redhead said, “And this is Bella”

         “Hi”, the blondie whose name is Bella said

         “Hi”, I responded.

         “We saw that you are new here. Welcome to Damiton High School.” Catherine said giving me a very sweet smile.

“Those are Benny, my boyfriend, Erik, Bella’s boyfriend and Ethan”, Catherine said pointing down the hall to the boys staring at me.

         I must have being frowning because Catherine said, “I promise we don’t bite. We are just welcoming you and trying to make a new friend”. After she said this, I felt myself relax and gave her a sincere smile.

         “Demitrey isn’t here right now but when he comes around, we will introduce you to him”.

         Derik’s instantly wrapped his arm around my waist and was running his thumb around my back. I could sense that all of them were uncomfortable. I saw the Wolf gang stare at Derik’s arm that as wrapped around me and I felt uncomfortable. I smiled at Catherine and Bella and said, “thanks for your hospitality but I need to get to my class”.

“Oh that’s okay, but can we get your number?”, Catherine asked while Bella smiled. Derik instantly tightened his arm wrapped around my waist and I felt he was trying to give me a warning. I was about to decline but Bella said, “Please”.

I smiled and wrote my number on a paper. Just as I handed the paper to them, the warning bell rang. “It was nice meeting you guys but I have to go, bye”, I said as I dragged Derik with me and the rest followed behind.

    After the meeting with Catherine and Bella, I felt more uncomfortable. Derik and the rest of my friends kept staying close to me to prevent me from any danger. I remembered Derik’s word after Catherine and Bella left, “that was weird. The Wolf gang never welcomed any new students. They keep mostly to themselves. Be careful, Baby girl. They may be up to no good.”                                                 

     I was thinking of this as I took my book from my locker for the last class when that strong scent hit me again. I was the only one in the hall so it wasn’t possible that someone had sprayed that. I was trying to snap out of it when the voice in my head said, “mate”.                 

  “Mate?” I said out loud trying to understand what she was saying.                                                                                                            

 “What did you just say?” a soft, deep and amused voice asked from behind me. I turned around and came face to face with the leader of the gang, Demitrey Wolf.
