HIS MATE

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Demitrey's POV:

It has been two weeks since the revelation. Two weeks since I have seen my mate. Two weeks since I have seen my best friend. Two weeks since either of them had been to school. Two weeks since the unusual quietness among us. Two weeks since Benny last spoke to his mate, Catherine. Two weeks since Catherine has become miserable.

    She has not only become miserable, but she also looks miserable. Her once shining eyes were now dull. Her shinning skin looked so pale. She had huge eye bags under her eyes. Her bonce beautiful long and shining hair was now dull looking. After Benny had stormed off, she had realized what she had said wrong. We all told her, though she already figured it out herself. She tried calling and texting him but there was no response. She tried to mind link him, but it seemed like Blake was also shutting her out. She had wanted to go to his parents' house, but my mom had stopped her. Her going there will only provoke him more. She had come to school the first week, hoping to catch him and try to sort things out with him but he hadn't come. She refused to come this second week. People had begun to gossip. Everyone knows how lovey-dovey both of them are, so once they didn't see them together the first week and saw how she looked, the humans had thought her had broken up with her while some wolves thought, he rejected her. 

    Things are not going well between me and Arianna either. She has refused to answer any of my calls or reply to any of my texts. At a point, I noticed she had blocked me so there was no way for me to reach her, even on social media. Ethan, Eric and Bella had also tried but she didn't respond to any of us. Ethan seems to be the one hurt the most. Both of them had developed a strong bond and her cutting him off totally hurts him. We all knew how she was feeling, me especially. I could feel it through my wolf. She had so many emotions but the most prudent were: anger, pain, betrayal and fear. Even her annoying human friends, especially Derik, had been bothering us about what happened to her. Apparently, she is responding to their calls and texts either. That annoying little punk, Derik, even had the audacity to threaten me. If I wasn't so worried, I would have broken his bones.

    Presently, we are at home. We just got back from school and thank God it's Friday. We were all gathering in the living room, except Catherine, who had basically started living him Benjamin's room- or old room, I'm not sure anymore.

"Maybe we should visit them", Bella suddenly said.

"Are you crazy? They basically hate us", Eric said to his mate.

"That's like the only way to see them", Ethan said with a sad expression. I know he had also developed feelings for her around the same time she developed feelings for him. But, I wasn't threatened. I trusted my cousin. I know he wouldn't act on those feelings, which was proven in the way he reacted when she confessed her feelings to him.

"I agree. I think we should go", my mom said, "I miss Benjamin".

"And I miss my best friend. I think we have a lot of things to settle with them", my dad said with a sad expression.

"But, they wouldn't want to see us after everything", I said anxiously.

"Which is why we are not going to inform them about our visit. We are just going to show up", my mom said.

"That's a good idea actually", Eric said

"Well, what are we waiting for? You guys should get dressed. We are going right away. Bella, go and fix Catherine up. I believe she will be excited to see her mate", Ethan said as he went up to his room.     Immediately he left, we all got up and went to change. I went into my room and took a 5 minutes shower. I quickly went into my closet and took any cloth. I got dressed in a tight black shirt with three buttons undone and I also put on faded blue jeans. I topped it up with a  black Nike sports shoe. I brushed my hair neatly and went downstairs. I noticed that everyone was ready. Catherine looked hopeful. We all went into our cars and made the one-hour drive to their house.

    On my way to their house, different thoughts went swimming in my head. I kept thinking about Arianna. Does she miss me? Does she want to see me? Will she want to even see me? What will she say to me? Will she even say anything to me? Much much does she hate me? Then I thought of Benny. How is he bonding with his family? Does he fit in? Does he feel comfortable? Is he bonding with his sister, Arianna? Funny how they both jokingly called themselves Twinie and wished they were siblings and they in fact turned out to be related. I wondered if Benny hated me. We grew up as best friends but my family is still the reason he got separated from his family. I really hope this revelation doesn't change how things were between us even though I feel like it already has. I wish this issue will only stay between our parents and they wouldn't involve us, but I know we are already involved. Benny has is obviously going to side with his family, Arianna might be angry at them, but she will still stick with them. Why do we have to be involved in their feud, Goddess?

    When we arrived, we nervously made our way to the door. I nervously pressed the doorbell and waited and a few seconds later, someone opened the door. It was Benny. He looked at all of us in surprise then his expression turned blank. He looked over at Catherine and his eyes showed anger and disappointment.

"Who's at the door, honey?", I heard his mom ask.

"Just some........ guests", he replied shortly.

"Who?", she asked as she appeared beside him. She looked at all of us in shock and then told us to come in
