Virgil
He was a man. He was an Alpha. However, there were emotions coursing through his body that he couldn't put a name to. Why was he feeling so nervous? This was Maya! He had known her since the beginning of their time, he had heart eyes for her since before he could remember. She always had that perfect glow on her face. The perfect smile. Something about her just... it hooked him. But here he was, being nervous and feeling unsure if she was going to accept his proposal. She was the only one he could imagine being his Luna and that would never change. He was sure of it. He just knew in his heart of hearts that the Mood Goddess would agree.
As he watched her, he could name every single emotion that seemed to pass through her eyes. Doubt... Insecurity... Love... Trust... Not all of them seemed to encourage the young Alpha. But this wasn't just about him. This was about them. He swallowed his pride and watched her. But as the silence continued, he felt the panic continue to build up within him. He took a slow breath. He was nearly about to speak again until he saw Maya clear her throat.
"Virg..." She started. Goddamn, her voice was so soothing. In the past, he had called her and let her just talk and talk. About everything and anything. It was the way she spoke that just had him relaxing. "I really don't know what to say... I mean, I love you. You know that I do. I'm sure our bond will snap into place tomorrow, I am sure of that... But Virgil... what if it doesn't?" The fact that she doubted their destiny did sting a little, but he could understand what she was saying.
"You know what? You're right. We might not be destined mates... but honestly? I don't care. You have always made me happy. Ever since we were pups. I want to be the one to make you happy. And, you know what? If we aren't destined... I choose you." He had to take a breath and relax as he watched her process his words. There was a bit of a smile on his face as he watched her. He knew Maya very well. He knew she would be overthinking this, doubting every little thing that came to mind. But he wanted to make it perfectly clear to her that she was the one he wanted.
As he watched her, he could see the soft smile that was slowly crossing over her lips as he spoke. It was the truth and when he swore to never lie to her when they were wee little ones... he would never break it. She stepped into his arms and nuzzled her face into the curve of his neck. The warmth he felt radiating from her body being pressed against his, had him reeling with a smile on his face. This is what he called heaven.
There was no way that they were not Destined Mates.
