Average Day in the Pack
Maya
Her breathing was labored, and she couldn't take in any more oxygen. Her arm snapped out to get a grip on the metal railing by her side, taking a slow and deep breath. Sweat was dripping down her forehead. By the time she heard the bell ring, she felt like she was going to faint.
"Atta girl! You did so well today!" Trystan's voice rang in her ears, and this was one of the first times that Maya... simply wanted to punch him and get him to shut up. She looked at him, and without a word, she held her hand out to him.
He helped her up and pulled her into a tight embrace. Things were always connected with the two of them. Maya had always felt this weird connection - sometimes it was as if she could read his thoughts. This training session had gotten so intense.
Once Maya was up, she made her way over to her gym bag and pulled out her towel. She dabbed the sweat from her forehead and slung it around her neck before grabbing her phone. An instant smile was on her lips when she saw that Virgil had texted her. Whipping her head around to speak to Trystan, but it was as if he already knew. He waved his hand at her, and she grinned.
Grabbing her stuff, she went to the locker room. Showered and changed her clothing. It was date night, and she wanted to look her absolute best. Putting on a black skirt and a black ruffled blouse, she sprayed her signature scent on herself and made her way to Virgil's office.
That was the thing about Virgil. He could always be found in his office, as the natural-born Alpha of their pack, it was his place. He always had something to do pack wise. Maya loved surprising him with affection or food. She knew he often forgot to eat. It was deathly quiet, as she was walking through the pack house, going down the long hallway that led to his office. She made this trip many times, and there was almost always someone whispering about it. However, most of the time the whispers would be about pack related topics; and sometimes... they would be about her.
Not only was Maya dating the Alpha of the pack - but she was also the only Omega in the pack. The surrounding packs all had so many Omegas that they couldn't keep track of all of them. Those Omegas were also treated like scum. However, in Alpha Moon, it was different. The only Omega born was Maya. She was the beloved daughter of two rejected Alphas who chose each other. The gene pool in Alpha Moon seemed to reject the Omega gene, so when Maya was born it was a whole ordeal.
Maya finally found her way over to the office; she gave three knocks before she entered the room. As always, her eyes darted around the place, seeing it in dismay made her roll her eyes with a slight smile on her face. This is the way Alpha Virgil was. He could never keep things in their place, and she always had to come and fix it for him.
"Virg... Didn't I just help you organize?" There was a laughing tint in her tone. She wasn't mad at him, she just couldn't wrap her brain around the fact that he just couldn't keep things clean. She began to walk around the desk, grabbing like-minded files and putting them into piles. Finding an empty spot on the desk, she placed the files there and took a slow breath.
"I know, I know. But, if you remember correctly... I did thank you for your amazing organization skills... in a very pleasurable way... and in the process of it... made another mess." Virgil smiled and stood up. Making his way around the desk, standing behind Maya and slowly slid his arms around her full hips, pressing her back against him, pressing the smallest and sweetest of nips along the curve of her neck, causing a shiver to race up her spine.
"A-are you done with your work for the night? If I remember correctly... you did promise me a date night." Maya felt a slow grin slide along her lips as she pressed back against him. Turning her head, she kissed his jaw ever so softly. His scent drove her wolf crazy and that was only one thing that made her sure that when her birthday hit... their bond would connect. She absolutely loved it.
Virgil moved to be in front of her, gripping her hand and lacing their fingers together. "I am. I also have a surprise for the birthday girl." The full mega-watt smile that was on his lips as enough to make Maya's knees go weak. She was glad that he was there. To play off her weakness, she hit his arm with her free hand and laughed. It was too darn easy for Virgil to make Maya a blushing mess.
It didn't take long for him to guide her to their spot. It was a flower garden with a little maze within. Knowing the steps by heart, they were within the center, and her eyes took in the picnic. The blanket, the basket, and two wine glasses. She couldn't help but smile. "When did you have time to do this? You were in the office all day!"
Virgil shuffled his feet a bit. "I can't take all the credit. In fact, Try helped out a good bit. But, please don't tell him that I told you that." He moved to the blanket, and opened the basket, pulling out items and placing the down, then filling up the glasses with some white wine, after he handed her a glass, he cleared his throat. "I just want to say something. You and I have been together since we were pups... I love you and I have no doubt that on your birthday, our bond will snap into place. But I want you to marry me and I want to make you my Luna. You are the only one I want."
His words made Maya gasp, and her heart skip a beat.
