Tara squeezed John’s hand. “I’ve never seen such beautiful buildings,” she exclaimed. John chuckled. “You think this is good, wait until we arrive at the Grand Palace. From what I’ve seen online, it’s fantastic.” As they cruised along a canal - that Wanchai called a Khlong - Tara pointed to the water in front of their boat. It looked to John as though it was about to boil. To his amazement, a shoal of fish appeared from the depths of the murky water. Wanchai laughed and threw them a few pieces of bread. The fish threw themselves at it, and it disappeared in seconds. “The fish are always in this stretch of water,” Wanchai said. “They seem to know they’ll be fed whenever a boat passes by.” At the end of the trip, John tipped Wanchai as he helped them off the boat.
