19. Godfather

Nick's POV

“sir all the work has been handled and I have issued the exclusive I’d card and handed it over to the security guard he would give it to Miss Angel.” I informed boss

“okay then , lets wrap up.”sir replied and I obliged

After that I drove Sir to Ryder Mansion.

At the entrance of the mansion Mrs Julianne Ryder and sir came to see me off.

“good night son .” Mrs. Julianne Ryder wished me

“good night grandma.” I wished and bowed respectfully.i don’t if grandma knew about my father and her son’s friendship but sometimes I feels grandma must know because she treats me really well as if I am really her grandson too.

After bidding farewell I leave in my small car and drove towards my home.while I was driving when my mind unintentionally went back to the meeting in the conference room.those old member treated me like a servant ..but do they even know I have reached where I am today because of my own work ,I work for the company ,I am sky sir’s assistant .I am not a so called servant ,nor was my father .my father is the most hardworking person I have ever seen and my ideal ..those old pals can call me anything ,I don’t mind but they can’t insult my father ..shit

I hit the steering wheel to vent my anger .

Finally I am home . My home ,my safe place .I don’t care if I am not born in some wealthy family with rich , elegant parents or that I have to work around the clock to earn us bread., I love them the way they are . And they are my number 1 and only people I care about , the only people I show my real self to.

I got off the car and that’s when I spot a familiar car in the parking space ..yes that’s him ,he is home .

I walked towards my house and unlock the door with my keys when I saw …Mr Arthur Ryder giving a bro hug to my father .

I decided to hide behind the door and hear their conversation out of curiosity because since childhood I knew Mr Arthur Ryder and dad are best friend and not only that Mr Ryder also asked me to call him Godfather whenever he is alone but even after all this they never allowed me to tell my boss anything .

(The conversation)

“hey brother , long time no see .” Arthur spoke to Trevor Davies his old time assistant and bestfriend from ages.

“really long time brother."Trevor replied with emotions.

Maria Davies , Trevor's wife and Nick's mother walks out the kitchen with a tray containing some snacks and juice.

“hello sister in law , how are you?" Arthur greets Maria as all three of them settle down on the sofa .

“been good , brother in law .have you been taking care of your health lately , you look like you have lost some weight." Maria asked with geniune concern.

“oh really , it must be because I miss your delicious food ." Arthur joked

“he is not home yet ." Trevor spoke in serious tone.

“how have been they doing Trevor ,did nick mention you anything ,is sky facing any trouble ?" Arthur spoke his voice full of concern.

“he is your son Arthur ,he is a genius .you don't have to worry about him plus nick assistant him ,I have full faith in our sons ." Trevor replied with a smile .

“sky is lucky to have a father like you. " Maria spoke .

“ don't say that ,I am probably the worst father in the world ." Arthur laughed sadly.

“is Linda still causing trouble ?" Trevor asked with concern .

“what else does that b***h know ." Arthur laughed.

“she wants to ruin my son's life , but I won't let her do it Trevor ..no matter how big price I have to pay for that .I will protect his happiness." Arthur added with determination .

(behind the door nick finally digest the conversation and decides that he can't eavesdrop anymore because he might hear things he isn't suppose too.)

I make some noise to let them know I have just arrived and enter in the living room.

“hello Godfather." I greet and to which he just nods

it's the same again he is like the cold Mr . Arthur Ryder I have seen since childhood ...it's not like he treats me badly .he treats me very well but is never very friendly with me. totally different from the way he just acted in front of my parents .I don't know what secret is here between but I know there is definitely a reason behind his double face .I heard him care about his son just now but whenever boss and Godfather are together they act like strangers. what can be so strong to make a father who cares about his son so much ,act so indifferently when facing his son?
