Chapter 1: The Collision
The university gates looked like they belonged to a palace, not a college.
Inaya clutched her old bag tighter and walked in, head down. She was not like the other girls here with their designer clothes and luxury cars. She was here on a full scholarship, and her only goal was to study and survive.
"Watch out, scholarship girl!"
But it was too late. She collided hard with a wall of muscle. Her books flew everywhere.
In front of her stood Zayan. Tall, handsome, and terrifyingly cold. The heir to the city's biggest mafia empire, who everyone knew ruled the campus. His black shirt stretched over his muscular body, and his eyes were pure ice.
"You have 5 seconds to pick up my shoes," he said in a low, dangerous voice. His white sneakers had a tiny dust mark from her collision.
"I... I'm sorry, I didn't see..." Inaya's voice trembled.
He bent down, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look at him. "People like you should learn to stay on the ground where you belong."
The whole corridor went silent. Everyone was watching.
Inaya's innocent eyes filled with tears, but there was fire in them too. She jerked her chin away.
"I said I'm sorry. I'm not going to clean your shoes," she said, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Zayan's eyes narrowed. No one had ever talked to him like that. A small, cruel smile came on his face.
"So, the little queen has an attitude," he whispered. "Interesting. What's your name?"
"Inaya," she said.
"Inaya," he repeated, like he was memorizing it to destroy it. "You just made the biggest mistake of your life. Welcome to my university."
He walked away, leaving her shaking in the middle of the hallway.
She didn't know it yet, but from today, she was his new obsession.
