Chapter 4: Please Don't Take My Mama

422 Words
Adrian did not sleep that night. He sat outside my guest room, his back against the door, listening to his son breathe inside. Inside, Liam slept in my arms, but I was awake, staring at the ceiling of the packhouse I once called home. At 3 AM, Liam woke up crying. "Mama, nightmare!" I hugged him. "Mama is here, baby." The door opened. Adrian rushed in, his golden eyes panicked. "What happened? Is he okay?" Liam, still half-asleep, looked at Adrian and did something no one expected. He raised his tiny arms. "Dada..." One word. Dada. Adrian froze. His ruthless Alpha heart, the heart that had rejected me without mercy, shattered. He picked up Liam gently, his huge hands trembling. "I am here, pup. Dada is here." Liam hugged his neck and fell back asleep instantly, as if he had been waiting three years for that hug. I watched them, tears finally falling from my eyes. I wanted to be cold. I wanted revenge. But seeing my son in his father's arms... "Thank you," Adrian whispered, looking at me over Liam's head. "For keeping him safe. For raising him alone." "You rejected us," I whispered back, voice broken. "I was two weeks pregnant. I bled on the road when they threw me out. I almost lost him." Adrian's face twisted in pain. "I know. I know everything now. Vanessa confessed. Linda confessed. I was a fool. I believed them because... because my wolf was weak. I didn't deserve you." He knelt beside the bed, still holding Liam. "Elena, give me a chance. Not as your Alpha. Not as your mate. As his father. Let me prove... let me prove I can be a father he deserves." I looked at my sleeping son, his little hand clutching Adrian's shirt. My revenge plan was to destroy Adrian Knox. To take his pack, his title, his everything. But how do you destroy a man who is holding your son like he is his entire world? "One week," I said coldly, wiping my tears. "You have one week to prove you are a father. After that, I take Liam and leave forever. And this time, you will never find us." Adrian nodded, tears falling on Liam's hair. "One week. I will give my life." Outside the window, Vanessa watched from the dark, her hands fists, her eyes full of murder. She whispered to herself, "That boy will never be Alpha. I will kill him before that happens." Revenge was not over. It had just become dangerous.
