wake up

499 Words
I felt as if I was floating through a starless night sky. weightless and nothing in sight. as if the whole world had seized to excist and I was the only remaining proof that it ever excisted in the first place. I didn't know how long I had been floating, but it felt like forever. Was I dead? It sure felt cold.. I always imagined death would be an experience where I would either be in a very happy place with lots of joy, laughter and light. or in a very horrible place with screaming and fire. I never imagined it quiet, and right now I wasn't sure if I wouldn't pref the screaming. suddenly a bright ray of light entered my dark world. small at first, and it disapeared as quick as it came. I waited and hoped it would come back. It did.. brighter and bigger this time. I found myself moving towards the light. "she is trying to open her eyes" I suddenly heard a voice say. who is? were they talking about me? curious I moved even closer and suddenly I found myself being dragged towards the light by a force I couldn't fight. a whole sensation of feelings came over me as I got closer. suddenly I was in pain, and my mouth felt so dry as if I had swallowed a whole jar of sand, it tasted salt. my eyes burned and the light was now so bright I couldnt manage to keep them open. I was blinking and trying to protect them with my hands, but my hands didn't work, they were so heavy for some reason, I couldn't even lift them. finally I got accustomed to the light a bit and I saw a shade of a person standing over me. I was no longer floating but I found myself laying in a bed. the dark, numb world had disapeared and I now seemed to be in a room that smelled like disinfectant. "welcome to the land of the living" the voice spoke again. and I realised it was speaking to me and coming from the person standing over me. I tried answering but all I managed to produce was a croaking sound. "don't try to talk, you will still need some time to recover." the shade now slowly turned into a friendly face, a man with a white coat was hovering over me. "my name is doctor whyatt, you are at new hope hospital. i've been taking care of you these past days." days? hospital? it appears I wasn't dead after all, but what happened to me? I tried speaking again but my dry throat made me cough. the doctor offered me a drink of water and I gratefully sipped. the cold water was so welcome, it opened up my throat again and it washed away the salt. after I drank I felt an overwhealming exhaustion come over me, and I soon felt myself drifting off again into the darkness.
