crossroads

It is the first sunny day of May and a young couple is enjoying the warmth of those still weak sunrays. they stroll along the beach as they watch the icy blue waves crash softly on the prestine white sand. a cool breeze makes it too cold to walk without a coat on, but it smells like spring with a promise of summer coming soon. they laugh and smile, and seem without a worry in the world. untill one of them spots something in the water near the rocks where the beach ends and the cliffs start. she points and he stares, its hard to tell what she spotted so they make their way down to see what it is. suddenly, as they get closer, the girl lets out a scream as she realises what she saw. It is a person floating in the water face down, and as soon as they realise that, they start running. "call 911!" the guy shouts and he runs into the water to drag the person up to shore. the girl quickly dials and is soon chatting with the operator when the guy shouts out "she's alive!". and not long after that, sirens can be heard and the whole drama is taken care of by the right people. the woman they found is taken to the hospital and the couple makes their way home, a bit shaken and no longer feeling careless on this beautiful sunny day in May.
