Chapter 3: A New Generation

And that was the history of the first-ever war between heaven and hell. Did both of you children understand?" The teacher asked happily to her students. "Yes, Mrs. Baker,'' two children spoke, one of which sounded utterly bored and uninterested, while the other child was filled with excitement to learn the history of their past. "Alright, that's all for our history class. Now, if you'll excuse me," said the teacher. "Umm... Miss Baker... I have a question," the little girl said while raising her hand. "Yes, Lady Lorraine?" The teacher responded to Lady Lorraine. Lorraine started to speak and asked the teacher what the first king even meant when he said they would reunite someday. The teacher smiled and told the young miss that his final words were unanswerable, because during that event the demons were not very sure, and not a lot witnessed their end, which added a lot of mystery and theories. A lot of people thought nothing happened at the end, because they didn't know what would happen when an Angel and Demon die, while others speculated that, because of their love, they could be reincarnated as humans and would be destined to meet again. But no demon ever believed in reincarnation, since it was never determined that it would turn out to be true. Even heaven did not know or they simply refused to say that reincarnation was real. So, history only said that those two died in the end along with Hell's victory in war. Sacrificing their life so a new generation could continue. But that did not mean Heaven surrendered to them. After all, King Nicholas and Commander Selena both died in the end, and that meant both of them never received their true victory. So, Heaven refused to bow down, since the Fallen Angel Selena never took her crown back, making them still superior to Hell. "Ugh... why do we even need to learn this history about love... it sucks so much.” The little boy rolled his eyes. "Your highness, history is an important thing to learn if you want to become a future king someday," the teacher admonished. "That’s right Noah. Plus it’s not so bad, we get to learn a lot of interesting stuff," Lorraine said happily while looking at Noah. Noah was a stubborn child and already hated the fact that he was engaged to Lorraine. But having private lessons with her was a bigger pain in the ass since he had to see her every day. When the two first met. Lorraine begged her family and Noah's grandfather to let her join the same class as him so she could manage to spend more time with him and gave a good relationship, too. Doing so was indeed a great idea so Noah could learn to love and appreciate Lorraine. But it did not go so well since Lorraine was just as clingy and overachieving as always. And that was the reason why Noah hated her. Ever since she stepped foot into the Royal Palace, she showed off way too much, making his grandfather and the rest of the family compare her to him, and now they wanted her to tutor Noah about proper etiquette. Noah did not like when people taught him to be better because clearly he was already the crown prince and would succeed to be the greatest king, just like the first ever king of hell. But since Lorraine showed up, she did nothing but disturb him, making him not so accepting about the whole marriage contract thing. Noah wanted to break it off, but his grandfather stated that if he ever wanted to become king, he had to marry the eldest daughter of the Marionetz clan because they would offer much of their lands and would contribute whatever support the royal family needed for the kingdom, in order for peace to settle between the two families as well as gaining more power. By hearing those demands, Noah did not bother to protest anymore, since it would not change his grandfather's mind anyway. So he would just learn how to adjust to his hell of a life. "Tch... what a pain in the ass," Noah snorted while he looking away. "Ok you two young Masters, you have the whole afternoon to do whatever you want, and I will take my leave now.” The teacher bowed as she got her stuff and walked out of the room. Lorraine smiled hearing they have a whole free afternoon, and decided to play with Noah so she could get closer to him. "Hey Noah want to-," "I'm not interested, Lorraine... geez isn't seeing me already at class every day even enough for you?" Noah replied with an irritating tone. "I... I just thought that you might want too-," Lorraine replied while she gripped her dress. "Do me a favor... and stay out of my life!" Noah said harshly as he stepped out of his chair and left the room. "Why can't you just love me Noah...? Just like you proposed to me ever since we met... I'm trying my best to meet your expectation.” Lorraine tore up a little before following Noah out of the room. As Lorraine walked across the hallway, she suddenly heard her name called and looked over the window to see her dear half-sister. Where Lorraine put on a smile again. "Hello, eldest sister, how was history class?" Coline replied as she flew inside and hid her wings. "It was... umm... g..good," Lorraine said while trying to act casual. Coline saw that her eldest sister was clearly lying and knew for a fact that Noah had shun her out again. "Lorraine... when will you ever learn that the crown prince is nothing but a f*****g jerk! Like, why are you still putting up with him," Coline yelled it out, trying to open her sister up. "Come on Coline... you know Noah is not that bad. He can be pretty sweet once you get close to him," Lorraine smiled at her sister. Coline knew well that Noah was a complete jerk and would never like anyone, yet she still didn't understand why her eldest sister still loved that man and requested to be engaged with him. "Someday you will regret your decision… and I just want you to be happy... I hate to see my only sister get hurt because of him," Coline replied and offered her sister a hug. "I know you're worried about me Coline, but I promise you that I will be fine. Plus you never know. Noah might just change his mind one day," Lorraine replied with a smile, yet her tone was obviously sad. "Whatever you say, oh dear future Queen of hell," Coline said while she teased Lorraine. Both sisters started laughing when Coline made that joke, and it made Lorraine a little bit better knowing she could always count on her sister to brighten up her mood. Then, Coline started to spread her wings and raised her hand to her sister, asking her if she would accompany her to soar out to the skies. Lorraine was delighted and grabbed her younger sister's hand. Coline quickly held her sister tight and flew above the palace, watching the beautiful red sky together. The two sisters had a very close bond, even if they were half-related, and the fact Lorraine was also considered a golden child to the family. But… There was a little problem at her birth. Ever since she was born, she was the only demon who was not born with wings. This was odd to everyone. A demon who was not born with wings was considered to be abnormal and a disgrace. Yet her family, who still had a close relationship with the royal family, made this a complete secret to everyone since no one would accept a Queen who was born with no wings. During her birth, they discovered her powers were incredibly strong, thus making the royal family accept the engagement and making the eldest daughter of the Marionetz clan become the future Queen.
