Flirt~ 1 Meet Alex!
I fell back, landing on my butt with a sound thud and hitting my head on the wooden bedroom floor. "Ouch," I groaned, grabbing the back of my head. Jeez, why did I have to be the one to rearrange the guest room? It wasn't like my cousin was going to stay here forever! She was just visiting for a few weeks! She could do this herself, anyway! I had been trying to pull the King-sized bed away from the door for the past hour. Obviously my parents hadn't figured out that their son was probably the weakest human being in the world. I could barely lift my head in class half the time, let alone pull a gigantic bed across a vast bedroom! "Alex? Have you gotten everything arranged?" my dad asked from behind the closed bedroom door. "Felicia's going to be here in about an hour." Great, that gave me another hour to hopelessly play tug-of-war with a gigantic bed. "Not quite, Dad. Could you give me a hand?" I replied, continuing to struggle with the annoying furniture. He opened the door slowly and his eyes scanned the entire room curiously. A can of blue paint was tilted against the white wall farthest to the left and his eyes ran up the long trail of dark blue paint that was slashed vigorously across the area. His expression told me that he was not pleased. "Uh, it looks like you could use a lot of help," he blatantly told me, stepping inside the room completely, shutting the door. I blew a strand of curly brown hair out of my face and pouted. "You guys should have just left the room white and clean, like I had said." He chuckled. "Son, you know how stubborn your mother is. Once she has her thoughts set on something, she only cares about how it affects her, and won’t change her mind for anything." Oh, he was so right. As a matter of fact, Dad was the only one out of my parents who could be empathetic. Mom usually just saw it from her point of view and could be pretty blunt sometimes. But, alas, that was my mother for you. "So, I'm going to pull the bed by the window and you can continue painting. Is that alright?" Dad offered. I nodded my head and stepped toward the vigorously painted wall. I tilted my head, observing the masterpiece that was plastered against the surface. Honestly, it looked like something Vincent van Gogh would draw. The way the lines curved sharply resembled a beautiful- HA! Just yanking your chain! I didn't know crap about drawing! "Are you going to paint the wall or will you continue to look at your art project?" Dad retorted. Retreating from my thoughts, I picked up the large, dripping paint brush and slapped it on the whitest part of the wall dragging it along the vicinity in an up-and-down motion. "Actually, Dad. I consider it a masterpiece—a truly magnificent piece of work!" He rolled his eyes playfully. "Well, you'd better hurry up and finish your "masterpiece" before-" "Vincent!" Mom shouted from what sounded like the kitchen, "They're here!" Dad cursed under his breath and quickly moved the bed to the far side of the room, next to the window like it was nothing. I mean, come on! That bed had to have weighed at least a hundred pounds, and he tossed it around like his name was Romaine! "Alex, we can finish this up later," Dad said, hurrying out of the room. I breathed a sigh of relief and followed suit, heading downstairs into the kitchen. All of a sudden, sweet, chocolate smell wafted through the area and my eyes immediately shot to the oven. On top of the stove was one of my most favorite foods in the entire universe: Mom's Double Stacked Chocolate-Covered Fudge Cake. My taste buds practically melted at the sight. It was the most beautiful thing I'd seen all day. I loved chocolate! Mom may have been a pain in the butt sometimes but man! She could cook! I swear, I nearly moaned. I inched closer to the dessert, not taking my eyes off of it. Drool was threatening to pour from my lips by the time I became arm-length with the cake. The smell got stronger and tempted me to just stuff my face in the chocolate, but I kept my cool. My hand slowly rose and was centimeters away from digging in when suddenly: "Alex! Hey, stop!" Mom shouted and I nearly jumped out of my pants. I turned around and there she was; standing behind me, arms folded and frowning up at me. A sheepish smile stretched on my face and I stuffed my hands in my pockets, her hardened brown eyes glaring into my hazel ones. She may have been a whole head shorter than me, but she was really intimidating! No amount of scary movie could match up to my mom’s terrifying look of pure discipline. "H-hey, Mom, I was totally, uh...going to test the cake. Totally." I laughed nervously. Whenever I was nervous or when I lied, I used totally way more than it's needed. Mom knew that. Her frown was still plastered on her face. "Alex, that cake is for after dinner only. Got it?" "But Mom! I just want a little slice! Please?" I clasped my hands together and got on my knees. "Please?" "Nope," she deadpanned, "not in a million years." "Come on! What if it was poisoned? Then Felicia would die and then her ghost would totally come back and haunt our house; all because you wouldn't let me have a slice of cake!" A small smile made its way across Mom's face and she rolled her eyes. "I knew you were going to do this. I made you a slice and put it in the refrigerator." I got off my knees and hugged her tightly. "Yay! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!" "Yeah, yeah, Alex. But you can't have it until after you help Felicia with her bags." She smirked, clearly pleased with her decision. Smacking my lips, I reluctantly dragged myself out if the front door and noticed a red Chevy Camaro parked in the driveway. As I walked over to it I noticed that inside was something no normal seventeen year old boy would want to see. Felicia was practically eating some guys face off. But he was no better! It looked like he was trying to suck her whole face into his! Really? It was like, nine o'clock at night! Ugh, gag me. Straight make-out scenes are the worst. My jaw collapsed to the floor and my eyes became as big as my head. I probably looked like some anime character. Somehow in the front seat, she wrapped her legs around his waist and he started grinding against her- okay this was too much. I thought I was about to puke. "Hey! Get a room!" I shouted, banging on the glass window. "Or better yet, just buy a whole house! Nobody wants to witness that!" My cousin jumped and shrieked, patting on the guy's back. He sat up and turned around. The look of bewilderment that was showing on his face was absolutely priceless! With his damp hair clinging to his face and his bright blue eyes wider than Rebel Wilson, he looked hysterical! I almost laughed at him. Felicia scurried out of the passenger seat and ran up to hug me. "H-hey cousin! I... uh, that was just...well, um-" I held up a hand to silence her. "You're all good. What happens, happens." My eyes shot to the guy slowly making his way out of the car. "Who's that, Felicia?" I asked. "Him? Oh that's Daniel. He’s my boyfriend." She smiled as he came up and stood to her left. "Man, he's hot," I told her, placing my left hand on my waist and turning to the cute hunk. "Hi, I'm Alexander. You can just call me Alex, though." Daniel's face flushed red and he looked at me with those same wide, blue eyes. Guess he didn't know I was gay, poor guy. "Um... hi. Nice to meet you." Judging by his expression, he looked totally uncomfortable. Maybe making things worse will freak him out. "The pleasure is all mine," I elongated, batting my eyelashes at him, causing his eyes to go even wider—if that were even possible—and him to clear his throat. "Um, Felicia? C-can we just… go inside now? Please?" he pleaded. Clearly, Felicia was holding back laughter. Every time she does, she chews on her long brown hair, and she was practically trying to devour it! She pretended to glare at me and grabbed Daniel's hand, pulling him inside the house. This wasn't the first time I had done this. When we visited her last year in Minnesota, she was dating some football player and I flirted with him nonstop. Felicia got jealous and was angry at me for a few hours. Then I, being so adorable, sang her a song and she forgave me almost immediately. The sad thing is, I couldn't sing. "Alex? Are you coming in or what?" Felicia asked by the front door, snapping me back into reality. I raced inside, forgetting about her bags, and into the kitchen, stopping to stare hungrily at the dinner table. Somehow, Mom had managed to reheat a pot full of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and even an entire turkey! She had made all of this last night, and somehow got it all on the table as quickly as possible. "Oh, wow, Auntie Sharron! This looks great," Felicia complimented and Mom beamed at her; she always loved Felicia's compliments. Everyone gathered at the large dinner table and took their seats. I sat at the far end of the table, next to Dad. He was sitting on the right side of the table, next to the chair Mom was going to sit in after she passed out the food, which was opposite of me, and was next to Felicia, who was opposite of Dad, and Daniel was opposite of Mom. In front of us were large, white china platters and one fork, accompanied by a knife. None if it even mattered to me, I was too eager to eat that cake Mom cut me. I practically drooled as Mom walked over and began placing turkey limbs on our plates. When she approached me holding a giant pot, she smiled and, with her tongs, she threw a gigantic turkey leg on my plate. "Aw, Mom! How'd you know I liked the leg?" I asked playfully, batting my eyelashes at her. Yeah, it's a habit. "I don't know, honey. I guess it's a parent thing," she joked, causing me to laugh and drive my fork into the meat. I looked up and Daniel's eyes met mine. He quickly looked away and whispered in Felicia's ear, making her giggle. Was that jerk talking about me? "What's so funny, Felicia?" I asked, giving Daniel the evil eye. "Oh, he told me how you reminded him of his friend, Phil," she replied. “When I thought about it, he was kind of right!” "Hmm. I see. Alright, what is this Phil like?" "Well," Daniel started, "he's really funny, like you." He then smiled softly at me, the corners of his mouth creasing cutely. Well, I didn't lie when I called him hot. His eyes were a vivid blue that seemed to be filled with so much mystery. Plus, the way he smiled crookedly was so cute. Felicia had damn good taste in men. "...Alex? Alex?" Felicia waved her hands in my face. "Earth to Alexander! Auntie asked you to do the dishes." I snapped back to reality and realized my eyes were staring into Daniel's, and he was looking back. He averted his gaze and stood up from the table. His tight shirt hugged his chest, making his muscles pop out profoundly and look appealing. Oh hell, did I just use the word appealing? That wasn't cool. "Hey! Alex, stop checking out my boyfriend and do the dishes," Felicia said playfully. I rolled my eyes at her and watched Daniel walk into the living room, then scoffed. "He just wishes I was checking him out!" Felicia laughed and walked next to the sink, placing her plate on top of the other dishes. I made my way to her side and started the dish water. She looked at me and flashed a soft smile. We were pretty similar. She and I were both five foot ten, our hair had the same chocolate brown hue, hell, we thought alike sometimes! Mom told me when we were younger, people would mistake us for twins when we'd be together. Heck, sometimes I thought we were twins! When the dish water was finished, I threw a few cups and plates in the sink and began washing them. Felicia grabbed the ones that were thoroughly cleaned and rinsed them. "You don't have to help me cousin," I told her. She flicked some water in my face and chuckled. "Nonsense, I want to help." Typical Felicia, always willing to help people—even when they don't necessarily need it. We quickly finished the dishes and I devoured my slice of cake in the fridge and then a good idea popped in my head. It was time for some television! Walking into the living room, I plopped next to Felicia, who was really close to Daniel, on the couch and snatched the remote from her hands. "Hey!" she exclaimed. I stuck my tongue out at her and began flipping through channels. "Sorry, honey, but I control the TV." The Disney Channel popped up and Debby Ryan was talking to a blonde girl about her height and how she looked young or something. "Ugh, really? I hate this show." Felicia sighed. "Really?" I asked, placing the remote back on the table. "Well then, I guess I know what we're watching!" Daniel chuckled and wrapped his arm around Felicia's waist, brushing his hand across my stomach—which tickled. "Ha ha-hey!" I laughed, "I'm really ticklish! Don't do that!" Daniel leaned forward and gazed at me with his brows raised. "Really? Well I enjoy tickling people." He smiled at me again. "Oh, my God he does." Felicia giggled. "He made me pee on myself one time!" "Um, cousin, you sure that wasn't that time at sum-" Felicia put a hand over my mouth. "Candy! Some candy tasted good. Yup! Mm." That didn't even make sense. I squinted my eyes at her. "Does he not know?" "Know what?" Daniel asked. I smirked at Felicia and looked at Daniel. "Well, Mr. Daniel. About three years ago Felicia and I were at summer camp." "Ooh, God, Alex. Please don't!" Felicia pleaded. She looked at me as if to say, "This might ruin my relationship!" Well guess what, honey boo-boo child? I was taking that chance! "We were fourteen and had just finished eating dinner. Felicia was walking through the woods with me to our cabins, and she thought she saw a giant spider crawling up her leg! She screamed bloody murder and started to run in circles, swatting at every part of her body!" Daniel and I started laughing so hard our faces were red but Felicia's was flaming. It looked like someone threw a tomato at her face! "It-it took us an hour to calm her down," I managed to say through laughter. "When she was chill, she had a huge, dark, wet spot on her khakis! Guess what it was?!" "Oh, my God." Felicia groaned. "Thank you so much Alex. You have taken embarrassment to an entire new level!" "I aim to please my dear," I mocked and turned my attention to Daniel. "And please I will." To my surprise, he licked his upper lip and winked at me! What?! My eyes went wide and I looked away quickly, a light blush creeping on my cheeks. What the hell was that? Did Felicia not see that? He freaking...winked at me! And, honestly, it was sexy! Maybe he was just messing with me, using my actions against me. That wouldn't be the first time that had happened... "Well guys, I'm going to bed." Felicia yawned. "That fifteen hour car ride has left me pooped. I'll give you two some alone time, to get to know each other better." She stood up and stretched before making her way upstairs. "Your cousin is amazing," Daniel said after she was gone. I scoffed and turned to face him. "In bed or in person?" He laughed and sighed turning to me. "Both." I pretended to gag myself. "Spare me the details! Straight relationships are the worst!" A bowl full of cookies was on the coffee table in front of us and I snagged a one. "So, how long have you guys been together?" Daniel reached over and picked up a cookie. "Well, we had been talking for a few months at school. Then one day I had asked her on a date." "To where? Please don't tell me McDonalds. That is a terrible place to go. I can tell you from experience." "Ha, no, actually we went to a very expensive restaurant. It was called. Cafe L'Europe. After we had that dinner, I paid for everything and was broke for a few weeks after that date. Eventually I had asked her out and she said yes, and now we're together. It's been about three months." "Aw. You're so sweet," I cooed, making his face go red. He looked away and bit his lip. "It's nothing really. Thanks though," he mumbled. "Yeah, you're a better boyfriend than mine," I said quietly, swallowing the rest of the cookie. "He'd never take me to a place as nice as that." "Let me guess, he took you to McDonalds?" "Oh, you're smart. Hell yeah he did. And I hated every second of it." My boyfriend was so annoying sometimes. He loved attention and hated when I didn't do things with him. Even when I was just playing video games he'd be like, "Babe, get off the game. You aren't paying enough attention to me." Plus, he has a temper that I tried not to deal with. Not again. Ugh, men. "Was he your first boyfriend?" I looked into Daniel's eyes and could see he was really interested in knowing whether Kenny was my first boyfriend or not. Nevertheless, I barely knew the guy, so why would I tell him my business? I stood up and straightened my shirt. "I, uh, I'm going to bed. The guest room is upstairs next to the bathroom. It isn't done yet so, um, there's blue scattered in a whole bunch of different places. I totally have no idea who did that." I was about to leave when Daniel ran up to me and grabbed my arm. "Wait, you never told me if that guy was your first boyfriend." I rolled my eyes playfully. "Well, Mr. Nosy, if you have to know then fine I'll tell you. No, Kenny isn't my first. I've had plenty of boyfriends in my past." He smiled at me and ruffled my hair up. I returned the smile and he left to go to bed and I slowly made my way up to my room. After stripping down to my boxers I crawled into bed. Daniel is pretty cool, I thought to myself as I pulled my blanket over my head. But he's nosy. And what was with that wink? I tried shaking the image of him licking his lip and winking at me. It was really hot. But if he thought that one maneuver would get me to stop messing with him, he's got another thing coming. As a matter of fact, it made me want to flirt more. I got a kick out of seeing him be surprised by my sudden behavior. He would be seeing a lot more of that too.
