Till We Meet Again

Chapter One

Hope’s P.O.V

It was a Friday night in the city of Willow Creek, dark scary and eerie aura surrounding the streets. The wind howling made my skin tingle and the cold breeze send a spine chilling fear down my spine.

I was walking back from the bookstore I worked in. I have been staying overnight for the past couple of days because of the new book deliveries plus my boss Susan hasn’t been coming to work due to some family issues.

I let out a sigh of relief when I saw my house coming in view. Willow Creek isn’t like any other normal city in the world. With gangs ruling each and every corner of the city. One of the most scariest and deadliest gang leader to exist here was Jonathan Rivers. And he is a nightmare to every single person in town.

It is a well known fact in Willow Creek that no one dares to mess with Jonathan unless they have a death wish or something. He shows no mercy to anyone who betrays him or gets in his way. Not even his own family.

My family and his have bad blood between them. When Hazel, Jonathan’s wife, was murdered about a couple of years ago, my dad was in charge of the case. Due to his general behavior and knowing what kind of a person he is, my dad was damn sure that Jonathan had something to do with the murder. He humiliated him to the verge of snapping. After countless more investigation, it was later revealed that Dylan, Jonathan’s brother was the murderer all along.

And as a price of humiliating Jonathan, my dad lost his hard earned job as the head of the investigating department, a job that meant the world to him.

One thing that scares the crap out of me is the connection my family has with Jonathan’s. Well you see, my sister Abby fell in love his older son, Jace.

Jonathan has a lot of skeletons in his closet. And he doesn’t want anybody finding about it, especially his kids. When Hazel got to know about Jonathan’s much more sinister side, it was already to late to save her and the kids. But she wasn’t ready to give up. No matter what she tried, nothing worked. Her kids were blind to the evil and cruel person their dad was, oblivious to the secrets their dad keeps hidden. After all, going for war up against the master manipulator himself wasn’t an easy battle to win.

As Jace grew up, he started seeing a ray of light amidst the dark tunnel of manipulation and deceit and secrets. He started to understand what his mom has been trying to tell him and his brothers all these years. Jace was really close to his mom and her death really broke him down. Just imagine knowing that your father whom you trusted all these years was not who he was. He was just a total stranger, a f*****g manipulator. A lot was going through his mind, his mom died, the only person who could have helped him stop his dad. It was a lot to take in and go through alone.

He had lost all hope and was on the verge of losing himself when he met my sister. They weren’t supposed to be close or love one another but bada bing bada boom they fall in love and start dating. My father is really overprotective when it comes to his family. So lets just say he wasn’t exactly ecstatic when he found out about Jace and Abby. He was scared about what Jace’s father might do if he happens to find out that his son is dating the daughter of the person he despised the most. Jace promised and convinced my dad that he will protect Abby and all of us.

My sister was happy and so in love. I always wished that I could maybe find a Jace of my own. But time will tell that now, won’t it? They were happy together and finally wanted to settle down after three years of dating. The wedding plan was in motion and we made sure that Jonathan didn’t even hear a word about it. Everything went smoothly. But little did we know that it was the calm before the huge storm.

Abby’s big day was finally here. She expected to see her handsome man waiting for her down at the altar not his body drowned in a pool of blood. The shock was a lot for her to handle. And on that day, I lost a better half of me. I lost my sister.

I wish I had a happy life were I wouldn’t live every single day afraid of what Jonathan might do to my family. I am not sure if he knows about Abby and Jace yet. And if he does, he is going to come for revenge and strike when we least expect it.

I walked into the kitchen to drink a cup of water. Man this day was so long and exhausting. I am just glad I made it home in one piece. I heard giggles and moaning sounds coming from the living room. That’s weird, I thought. It can’t be my older brother, Zach and his fiancée, Nora because they are on a little get away in Prague. It can’t be my seven year old twin siblings. Then who the hell is making out and being all giggly in my damn house. Could it be my dad?

Once I reached the living room and saw what was actually happening, my eyes bulged out of my sockets. When and how did this happen? I cleared my throat and the couple turned to look at me. It was my lovely dad and the twins best friends mom.

“Hey kiddo” he said standing up from the couch.

“Hey dad. Hello Hannah” she was blushing so hard and hid behind my dad.

“You know what, we will talk about whatever this is in the morning. I really need a nice long nap. I am just going to let you two get back to whatever you were doing.”

I took a long warm shower to calm my tensed muscles. As I was getting ready for bed, a picture on my nightstand caught my attention. It was a picture of me and Abby.

“I miss you Abby” I whispered. I was snapped out from memory lane when I heard my phone ring.

“Can I call you back tomorrow? I am really tired and need to sleep” I said yawning.

“It’s okay Hope. I just need to know that you are safe. I won’t be able to forgive myself if anything happened to you. I love you, remember that. Good night”

“I love you too” I said and ended the call.

I know it has been a long while since I updated this. I am sorry. School has been getting hectic and lots of work and stuff. But I was a bit free so I wrote this down. Hope you will love it. Your love and support means the world to me.
